Kinwald does triple at Battle in the Desert Rd2

The 2nd leg of the Battle in the Desert Series took place at Competition Hobbies in Tucson, AZ. Brian Kinwald was on fire at his home track and was the driver to beat all weekend. Starting with a TQ in 2wd modified and Short Course 4×4, Kinwald put the rest of the racers on notice, to get the win you had to go through BK. The main events got underway and BK picked up right where he left off in the 2wd modified class. His perfectly prepared B4.1 with JConcepts Blue Bar Codes proved to be too much for the rest of the field as BK ran away with the main. Topping off the winning ride was Punisher body and 6.5” rear wing.

Mirko Salemi wins 1/8th European ‘B’ title

Mirko Salemi has captured the crown at the European Championship (B) 1/8 nitro on-road which took place last week at Hildesheim in the south of Hanover in Germany. Second and third spot on the podium went to Switzerland with Juerg Nydegger second and Mattia Pesenti third. Following 118 entries a total of 105 racers competed at the E.C. (B). The organising club AMC Hildesheim has been an excellent host of this six-day-event but at the end Germany carried their hospitality to excess when six German finalists cleared the way for the four foreigners to take the first four positions.

Fernandez & Terceño win Spanish EP offroad Rd2

Miguel Fernandez and Iñigo Terceño win the second round of the Spanish 1/10 offroad nationals on the Club Carbi Track, home of the 2009 offroad Euros. In 4wd Miguel Hernandez, who at 13 years old was the youngest driver competing in the race, showed incredible performance with his Kyosho Lazer FS2. Winning the race on the last of the mains after passing all drivers following a crash that relegated him to the last position. David Bustos took second place with his Tamiya, with Durango driver Enrique Fuciños in 3rd. The 2wd class went to local Schumacher driver Iñigo Terceño followed by another local driver, Ival Martinez with his X-Factory X6, who hard a hard fight with Iñigo in all the finals. Associated driver Clemente Rodriguez took 3rd.

Eric Clark & Shane Racer win TQ East Coast Challenge

This past weekend was the TQ East Coast Challenge hosted by Classic RC Raceways in Akron, Ohio. Saturday was the electric program indoors and Sunday was 1/8th Nitro program outdoors. Saturday for the 1/10th electric race saw a few TLR drivers in attendance that included Bill Shay,  Ben Beard, and Eric Clark competing in 2 wheel mod buggy. TLR would put two TLR 22’s in the A-main final. Eric Clark would take the overall TQ and led the main from wire to wire for the A-main win. Sunday would be the start of the 1/8th nitro classes. TLR would have Shane Racer and Eric Clark in attendance for the nitro part of the event. Shane Racer would put himself in the A-main with consistent runs in qualifying and a chance at the win in the A-main. With a bad start from Shane in the A-main he would have his work cut out for him. Shane would put in a great race to take the lead at the halfway point and take the overall win. Eric Clark would end up 4th overall.

Honigl & Adachi wins Greek ElectroChamps

The first ever electric off road ElectroChamps race took place on last weekend in Athens, Greece with quest drivers Hupo Honigl and Shin Adachi giving great battles all weekend. The typical sunny Greek weather was the perfect background for this International show race with top Greek drivers attending. In the 2wd class, former European champion Hupo Honigl took his prototype Team Durango DEX210 to pole position and after winning two out of three seven minute finals he won the overall ahead of Team Kyosho’s factory driver Shin Adashi in second. Third place and best Greek driver was John Papanikolaou with a Kysoho RB5 SP2. In 4wd it was Shin’s time to shine. Starting from second behind Hupo, he won 2 out of the three final rounds and took his Kyosho Lazer ZX5 FS2 to first place in the event. Second place went to Hupo Honigl with his Team Durango DEX410 and third was Dimitris Tsigkos driving a HPI Cyber10.

Jamie Grayek does double at The Big One

This past weekend LCRC in Oakland Mills PA held their Memorial Day weekend race called ‘The Big One’. Despite it raining on and off all week the track held up great and ended up being a nice Blue Groove for the huge crowd of racers with 90 degree and sunny weather all weekend. With 3 rounds of qualifying on Saturday and a 4th round on Sunday there was a lot of track time for all. Sunday afternoon saw the mains and it was JConcepts driver Jamie Grayek who was able to take the 1:8 Buggy and Truggy class victory. With stiff competition from Associated driver Mike Gay and Losi’s Anthony Mazzara, Jamie’s JConcepts Sevens on his Truggy and Subcultures on his Buggy helped carry him to victory.

Giorgio Defelici dominates Rd2 of Trofeo Capricorn

The first round of the Trofeo Capricorn series was held last weekend in Cassino. It was Capricorn/Novarossi driver Giorgio Defelici that claimed the top qualifying spot and would also go on to win the event. Second place went to another Capricorn/Novarossi driver Massino Agnese who had a close battle with 3rd place Brazilian driver Edoardo Dulac with this Shepherd/Max.

Andy Moore takes BTCC Rd3

A dominant performance from Andy Moore saw the Hot bodies driver take the Cotswold round of this seasons Schumacher BTCC, starting from pole after taking TQ Andy eased a lead ahead of the chasing pack of the Associated TC6 of Olly Jefferies and the Schumacher Chris Grainger, with the Cotswold BRCA national only two week away this meeting was a good form guide to who would be the pace setters for the national and Andy Moore currently looks the man to beat and leaves the others looking to find a little more pace.
