Alessandro Bracci wins GP di Natale

Alessandro Bracci wins GP di Natale

Last weekend the last 1/8th scale event of the year, the GP di Natale, took place at the Riccione tack in Italy. The beginning of the event was delayed by over an hour due to the cold with temperatures well below zero. Due to this the fastest heats of qualifying came at during the 3rd round and it was Alessandro Bracci set the fastest time with 27 laps followed by Sammarini Sandro and Manuel Tordi, both with 26 laps. After the lunch break for some Christmas food the finals got underway with a close battle for first place between Sammarini and Bracci, but an off by Sammarini gave Bracci the break he needed and he would go on to win with Sammarini in 2nd, 3 laps ahead of third place Manuel Tordi who made the best lap time of the day with a 15,269.

4th Annual Toys For Tots race in Porter TX

4th Annual Toys For Tots race in Porter TX

Mikes Hobby Shop in Porter, Tx, home of the 2010 IFMAR 200mm Worlds, hosted their 4th Annual Toys For Tots Race ending up with 116 entries. Again, a fantastic day (and night!) of racing, with everyone in good spirits as they got started at 3PM. Phil W. and Jeremy Cupps ran a super-smooth program with nearly no hitches and even though they took no breaks between rounds, and only about a 30 minute break before the mains, they were still there until nearly 3am. Estimates put the total of toys donated at about 123 and if you average them at $10/each (many were worth more), then that was close to $1230 worth of toys donated, for a grand total of over $2000 in Toys and Cash. The firemen that picked up the toys said this was far-and-away the largest haul they’d had this season, so congrats to everyone involved.

Drake wins Union Rescue Mission Toys for Tots event

Drake wins Union Rescue Mission Toys for Toys event

Last weekend’s Union Rescue Mission Toys for Tots event had over one hundred entries with some of the fastest racers in California coming out to race and help raise money for a great charity. The weather and track conditions at Revelation Raceway were great. In the 1/8th pro buggy class it was TLR / Novarossi’s Adam Drake who set the TQ in both rounds of qualifying. In the final, Drake checked out and won the final followed by teammate Matt Schreffler in second and Barry Baker in third. In the 1/8th pro truck class Adam Drake TQ’d round one, but in round two Phillip Atondo won the heat and set TQ for the event with his Novarossi powered 8ight T 2.0. In the final, Phillip and Adam pulled away from the rest of the field and had an amazing battle until the nine minute mark when Phillip had a problem with his switch. Adam then cruise to victory followed by teammate Matt Schreffler in 2nd.

PRCR 2nd Annual Toys for Tots Race

Portland R/C Raceway’s 2nd Annual Toys for Tots Race was held this past weekend in Clackamas, Oregon. Last year PRCR helped collect a lot of toys for underprivelaged children and was looking to hopefully bring in even more this year. Racers came from as far as central Washington to attend this great event, with entries reaching 96, making it bigger than last years event. The PRCR staff provided snacks all day long that was enjoyed by all the racers. The race format consisted of two 5-minute qualifiers using the rocket round format. After qualifying, lower main bump-ups were run, taking the top 2 drivers from the B’s into the A’s. The top 6 drivers from qualifying made it straight into the Triple A-Main Events. This making it an 8 car field to battle it out for the overall win.

Bloomfield wins with TLR22 on UK debut

Bloomfield wins with TLR22 on UK debut

Team Losi are reporting that round 3 of the Taplow R/C Car club’s winter championship was to be the first public race meeting of the TLR22 outside of the USA. Some of the most respected racers in the UK including the current double European champion Lee Martin and the current BRCA 1:10 and 1:8 national champions Tom Cockerill and Darren Bloomfield took to the indoor track just outside of Slough in what turned out to be an epic meeting and a fitting UK debut for the TLR 22. All 3 UK TLR 22 cars qualified into the top 10 in 2WD but with 8 car finals, it was the 3rd car of Andy Carter that had to settle for poling the B-final.  Up at the sharp end though, it was the TLR22 of Darren Bloomfield who lined up 2nd on the grid alongside current EFRA European Champion Lee Martin with Tom Cockerill and David Poulter locking out the 2nd row of the grid with their Schumacher Cougars and ahead of the 2nd TLR22 of Simon Reeves in 5th and the XXX-CR of Special Agent Richard Barton in 6th place on the 3rd row of the grid.
