Rick Vrielijnck wins Dutch 1/8th Nats Rd5

The weather forecast was to expect rain for the 5th round of the Dutch 1/8th scale National championships but thankfully it was wrong and the whole day saw dry weather on the MACH track in Heemstede. Qualifying saw Rick V with the Mugen MRX-5 did take the pole position 2 seconds in front of Ilia v. Gastel, with the 3rd spot going to Robin d’Hondt and in the 4th and final direct final spot was Jordy Block.

Mike Truhe wins 2wd Mod at ROAR Nats

Team Losi are reporting that Mike Truhe added another ROAR Championship to his impressive list of wins taking home the championship in the 2WD Modified Buggy class at the 2010 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-road Nationals last weekend. Mike was driving a Team Losi Racing XXX-CR powered by Xcelorin motor and batteries and the team had four XXX-CR’s in the 2wd mod A main. Dustin Evans also took the overall TQ in the truck class by TQing rounds 1 and 3. Losi had six XXX-T CR’s in the mod truck A main and also six XXX4’s in the 4wd mod A main.

Ryan Maifield wins ROAR SCT Nationals

JConcepts have a brief update on their top driver Ryan Maifield winning the SCT class at last weekend’s ROAR Nationals. Ryan drove his JConcepts equipped Factory Team SC10 to victory, winning A1, leading A2 before a transmission problem took him out, and then wrapping up the title with the win in A3. Expect a full report later in the week.

Jefferies & Bowden win BRCA TC Rd4

Team Associated are celebrating the first major victory for their new TC6 touring car after team driver Olly Jefferies took TQ and a win at round four of the BRCA national series at the fast Halifax track. In the super touring class it was Elliott Harper that set the early pace with his Tamiya but it was Olly Jefferies that came through to take TQ ahead of Chris Grainger’s Schumacher Mi4 with Elliott lining up third. Andy Moore struggled a little in qualifying and ended up fourth but was hoping for a good result over the three leg finals.

Martin Christensen is European Champion

Martin Christensen has won the 2010 1/10th 200mm European Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden today, 8 years after he won he won his first European title on the very same track. Giving Italian marque Capricorn their first major title for the LAB-C01 chassis the Danish driver was the fastest driver at the start of the final, getting past Wischnewski for the lead and despite battling for position with Dirk, who would later flame out, was up front when it counted. Fast work by his pit man kept him in the hunt, however his tires were gone by the end of the 45 minute final and struggled with the car especially coming onto the straight but he was always driving within his limits and could cruise home 1 lap ahead of 2nd place.

Wischnewski is Euros top qualifier

Reigning European Champion Dirk Wischnewski has claimed the top qualifying spot at this year’s 1/10th 200mm European Championships in Gothenburg Sweden today. Rain fell on and off today meaning that the front runners were unable to improve their times and so with Dirk’s TQ run from round 1 he was able to take pole position and is now one step closer to retaining his title that he won in Italy last year. Dirk is of course happy to take the top spot but didn’t expect it after what he believes was a disappointing Worlds. With the weather forecast expecting rain tomorrow he has now tested rain tires with his rain car in the last qualifier but he said it was hard to test, as the track was drying again.

No change up front in Sweden as rain returns

The second round of qualifying here in Gothenburg, Sweden has seen no improvements among the front runners as the rain arrived and made the track too slippery to set a fast time. In fact by the time the top heats were out on track, the continuous rain had made it pretty treacherous although some racers including former World Champion Daniele Ielasi, Martin Hudy, Jerome Renaux and Patrick Schaefer took this opportunity to go on track and test for the wet conditions. With the weather not looking good for the rest of the weekend this track time could prove beneficial come Sunday’s finals.

Dirk Wishcnewski takes Rd1 in Sweden

Round 1 of qualifying is over at this year’s European 200mm Championships in Sweden and it was current European Champion Dirk Wischnewski who is sitting on top of the pack. Talking with the factory Xray driver he described his run as ok despite the car having some understeer. For the next run he plans to change the caster to try and get more steering. Second for the round, Capricorn racer Martin Christensen said his car and engine were perfect, he just needs to work on improving his driving.
