Giuseppe D'angelo wins Italian 1/10th Rd2

The 2nd round of the Italian 1/10th touring car championships was run last weekend in Messina, host of the 2005 1/8th scale World Championships. In Saturday’s qualifying it was young Biagio Spataro that took the pole position in front of Giuseppe D’angelo in 2nd, with Francesco Tironi taking 3rd. In Sunday’s hour long main final it was Mugen/Reds racer D’Angelo who led most of the race on his way to the win, followed by the Mugen/Sirio of Tironi in 2nd with Xray/Max driver Giorgio De Felici taking 3rd.

Race for a Cure – Announcement

Race for a Cure - Announcement

Race for a Cure is an event taking place at Goshen Fair Grounds in Goshen CT from the 17th to 20th of June, which will help raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. A 4 day event it sees practice on Thursday with both 2wd & 4wd Short Course only running on Friday, 1/8th nitro & electric buggy on Saturday and 1/5th scale buggy & truck on Sunday. All classes get 3 rounds of qualifying and mains and the event is limited to 100 entries per day. Making it a fun day for all the family the fairgrounds are also hosting a bigger event called the Goshen Stampede where there are all kinds of cool things going on with full scale trucks, farm animals, fireworks and live music. Duarte Faria wins Rd3 of Portuguese regionals

Last Sunday the third round of the Portuguese Regional’s was held in the Circuito Automodelismo do Funchal. The Half Final’s A and B were quite dramatic with lots of crashes and two drivers having radio problems resulting in several retirements. In the main final Mugen Driver Luis Cortez was on pole followed by Serpent driver Duarte Faria, they were racing in their own league, switching the lead between them, at the final stage of the race Luis Cortez lost 2nd gear and Duarte Faria managed to win the race with a one lap lead. Xray Driver Duarte Vasconcelos took the 3rd position of the podium with a very solid run.

David Spashett wins Rd3 of 1/8th BRCA nats

The 3rd round of this years BRCA 1/8th scale on road championships was held at the Brooklands raceway in Kent and with a turn out of over 40 drivers, it was looking like a strong weekends racing but the weather forecast for Sunday was for rain, however thankfully the drivers were treated to sunshine. David Spashett decided to come out of retirement for a one off appearance with a standard spec JP powered Velox V8 chassis and even after 5 years of not racing 1/8th scale, he was soon back in the groove with some very consistent lap times and apexing every track corner to perfection.

Asian EP Buggy Party 2010 Rd1

The first selection race of the ‘Asian EP Buggy Party’ was held in the AJ RC Arena in ZhongShan, China on the at the weekend. Due to a change of date, it was clashing with other races and so the turn out was lower than expected, however everyone that went enjoyed a great day of racing with great gifts coming from Speed Passion and JConcepts, together with new decal makers Infinity. The race was held with three 5 minutes qualifies and three 8 minutes finals. TQ in 2wd went to John Ho, who was running the new Schumacher Cougar SV, but in the final it was Antony Kwok driving a self made prototype Losi mid motor conversion XXX-M that won the A-main. Team C driver Cup Yuk Shuen, with the newly release TC-04, grabbed the hotly contested TQ spot for 4WD, while the final again provided a thrilling race with Team Durango Driver John Ho taking the final victory. All the A-main winners were using Speed Passion V3 motors, while everyone ran the JConcepts control tire.

Eric Albano wins 17.5 class at RROC

TOP Racing is reporting that team driver Eric Albano has won the Reedy Race of Champions in the 17.5 class.  The Reedy Race was held over Memorial Day weekend at Norcal Hobbies,(25 minutes south of San Francisco, California.  Eric TQ’d and won the division using a TOP Racing Photon.  The TOP Photon had a podium finish in each of the open classes.  James Arluck secured the 2nd spot in the 13.5 class and Jesse Stark finished 3rd in the Open Modified class.  This is the third year in a row that TOP has won a class at the Reedy Race.  Starting in 2008 Kevin Jelich TQ’d and won open modified, in 2009 EJ Evans TQ’d and won both the 13.5 and 17.5 classes using the Photon.

Pedro Rombouts wins Dutch NK Rd2

The 2nd round of the Dutch Nationals for 1/10th 200mm was run last weekend at the RAC02000 track in Utrecht. Qualifying for the NK class saw Belgian racer and Euro B finalist Maxim Claes take the pole position with his Xray ahead of Serpent driver Daan Jacobs in 2nd, with current champion Pedro Rombouts in 3rd and Remy Moller in 4th. Making a comeback for the weekend was Julius Kolff, the former European 235mm champion showing he has lost none of his speed qualifying in 5th. Following a damp but drying semi final, the main final got underway with everyone wondering who would be pitting for tires due to the high tire wear. The final was exciting seeing Julius hit troubles, clipping the inside of a curb and damaging his light rims. Pole man Claes also hit trouble, making a mistake and clipping the pit exit, taking him out of the running at the 15 minute mark. Daan Jacobs led for most part of the race, but a small mistake in the final 2 laps let Pedro into the lead. Pedro took the win by 2 seconds ahead of Daan with Remy just behind in 3rd spot. In the Nomac class, Janwillem Gons took the win from pole ahead of Arne Schober in 2nd and Jos Pjilippus in 3rd. In the 1/8th Promo class Mario Gerssen took the win, also from the pole, ahead of Marc Meijer in 2nd and Ruud Knoester in 3rd spot.

Lee Martin wins 4wd at Eden Park National

oOple are again reporting that Lee Martin has taken his third 4WD national win from three rounds of the 2010 BRCA 10th off road national series, at Eden Park Raceway. Grant Williams once again took TQ and pole on the grid for the three leg finals, but problems plagued the Schumacher driver after winning leg 1. A retirement in leg 2 was followed by a car that just wasn’t quite right in leg three. Lee Martin won, Grant Williams finished second and Tom Cockerill third.
