Ronald Volker is European Indoor Champion

Ronald Volker is European Indoor Champion

Ronald Volker is the new European Indoor Touring Champion for 2010. The German Yokomo driver once again put in a mistake free final to build the gap to second place driver Christer Andersson bit by bit. Both put in a clean run and Völker didn’t give Andersson any chance to close the gap even though he came across traffic at the end. Alexander Hagberg had a better start this leg and kept his 3rd place despite Marc Rheinard being all over the back him. Marc did have a few opportunities to pass Hagberg but thought the better of it to avoid a crash, but eventually rolled his car and let long line of cars go by.

Ronald Volker takes A-main Leg 1 in Finland

The first A-final of the day at the Indoor Euros in Finland included some close racing but also many mistakes. Ronald Völker started from pole position with some fast laps, while behind, some small mistakes from both Christer Andersson and Alexander Hagberg let Marc Rheinard through to take the second place. Marc looked more serious this time and didn’t allow Völker to run away with it, keeping the gap at one second for most of the race with both driving a clean final.

Atsushi Hara claims 2010 TITC title

Atsushi Hara claims 2010 TITC title

Atsushi Hara has won the modified class at this year’s TITC at RC Addict in Bangkok, Thailand. The Japanese Hot Bodies driver started from the pole position after 3 rounds of qualifying, in which the best 2 counted. Fellow Japanese racer Shin Adachi lined up in 2nd ahead of current European Champion Jilles Groskamp and Meen V in 3rd and 4th, with World Champions Hayato Matsuzaki, Naoto Matsukura and Surikarn C. in 5th, 6th and 7th. In the first leg of the A-main, Hara had an early fight with Shin and Jilles but was able to pull away and take the victory. In leg 2 there was more action with Atsushi spinning his tires off the line and allowing Adachi around the outside, 2 laps later and the Kyosho driver overshot the Keyhole turn and Hara was able to retake the lead. Shin managed to stay with the double World Champion for a number of laps before falling back and allowing Atsushi Hara to lock up the 2010 TITC title ahead of Shin in 2nd, Naoto Matsukura in 3rd, while Jilles Groskamp ended the finals in 4th. In the stock class, Siri took the win in A1 and A3 to wrap up the overall title.

Ronald Volker is Euros Indoor top qualifier

Ronald Volker is Euros Indoor top qualifier

Third day and qualifying are finally over. The 4th qualifying round was again a one man show as Ronald Völker continued to dominate again. He must be happy with his Yokomo´s setup and has good traction additive as he always starts with the fastest laps as others need to run couple of laps to find grip before putting in their quick lap times. The pace he showed during these runs was so much faster than anyone else that only 2 drivers could beat his average lap time on their fastest laps. Völker was also fastest in the 5th round and took the overall TQ even though he crashed and tweaked his car on the last round.

Volker goes quickest in Finland after 3 rounds

Starting the day with one more round of timed practice, it was Ronald Völker who went quickest in round 3 of qualifying. The former European Champion also made the fastest lap of the race and is the only one who has made it below 12 second with his lap time of 11.938. Teemu Leino was the second fastest with his 12.239, so you can really get the picture of how good Völker’s Yokomo is now. Völker started the first round of qualifying with amazing pace and nobody could match with his speed.

Groskamp leads the way at the 2010 TITC

An annual event held every February in Bangkok Thailand, the TITC attracts touring car racers from around the world come the exotic South East Asia to participate in this prestigious event. This years race has us at a new location.  The normal home of the event has been RCS Raceway located right in the heart of Bangkok, but unfortunately they had to close the track because the land that it was on was sold.  So an unfortunate thing for RCS, but a great opportunity for the home of this years event RC Addict. RC Addict is an amazing place. A brand new facility normally home to 200mm nitro cars but this week it host what is possibly the largest touring car race in the world.
