Ronald Völker TQ’s round 1 in Finland

Indoor Euros Controlled Practice update

So the first round of qualifying is done and it was Ronald Völker who carried forward his pace from controlled practice to take his LRP powered Yokomo to TQ spot. Völker made some really fast times during the first 5 minutes, but local guy Christer Andersson came really close at the end with a safe run. Christer told that us his car was a little on the difficult side to drive and he needed to drive really smoothly to avoid mistakes. For the next qualifying round he plans to rebuild the diff and hopes to take top spot.

Tebo clean sweep at Winter Indoor Nationals

Tebo clean sweep at Winter Indoor Nationals

St. Charles, Missouri was the location for the first annual Winter Indoor Nationals and Jason Ruona from JConcepts sent us this report. It was cold outside but warm inside the SmacTrac facility as practice started Friday with drivers coming from all over to test the new track layout. It was apparent in practice that the track layout was a challenge, especially the split lane in the center of the track. The separation of the split lane provided many drivers the opportunity to showcase their best driving tricks and stunts as the narrow lane sometimes provided the ultimate test of control in a narrow space. By weekends end everyone looked comfortable and everyone just remembered, when in doubt steer a little to the left.

Carlos Durães wins season opener at Trofa

Carlos Durães wins season opener at Trofa

The first official 1/8 Off-Road race of the year in Portugal took place last weekend at the Trofa track. Seen as a warm up to the Nationals it was Ricardo Monteiro that took the TQ spot as he won all 3 qualifiers with his RB powered Losi 8ight. The opening 7 minutes of the main final saw a nice battle between Monteiro and Xray driver Carlos Durães with new Losi signing Miguel Matias in third, after starting in 11th due to some electrical troubles during the warm lap. Monteiro had issues during his first refueling which dropped him back and allowed Durães up the 1st where he stayed until the end. Miguel Matias also benefitted from Monteiro’s problems and moved up to 2nd where he finished, ahead of Nuno Casal Ribeiro, a good result for this local Crono driver.

Ty Tessmann wins Nitro Challenge Pro Truggy class

The Dirt Nitro Challenge took place last weekend at the Nitro Pit in Wittmann, Arizona and young Canadian Hot Bodies team driver, and recent Worlds Warmup top qualifier, Ty Tessmann ended qualifying with 3rd in Pro Truggy and 6th in Pro Buggy. Ty got a clean start in truggy with Jared Tebo and Ryan Cavalieri out in front of him. As the race progressed Ty, Tebo and Maifield battled for the 2nd place as Cavalieri increased his lead to 14 seconds at one point in the race. The first place seemed unreachable for everyone else and it was thought that Cavalieri had the race in the bag but that was not to be. Ty continued to drive smooth, consistent and clean laps and slowly caught Ryan, and after a few bobbles from the leader and traffic for both of them, Ty took over the lead and kept it smooth and consistent to take his first major US win in front of Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield.
