Rheinard ups the pace in Denmark

Rheinard ups the pace in Denmark

Defending DHI Cup Champion Marc Rheinard has upped the pace here in qualifying to claim the third round and move to the top of the Qualification Ranking with two heats remaining. The German was pleased with the 19 laps in 5:04.658 result but feels his Tamiya, which is fitted with 4 turn Speedpassion motor, is too easy to drive. Although very consistent he feels that his 416X can be quicker and so he plans to lower the camber link, something he hopes is the right direction to take.

Rheinard tops opening day of 2010 DHI Cup

Rheinard tops opening day of 2010 DHI Cup

Having struggled in early practice, defending DHI Cup Champion Marc Rheinard put himself back in the driving seat by setting the fastest run in the final practice session here today in Odense, Denmark.  The World Champion said his Speed Passion powered Tamiya TRF416X was much better than earlier, all thanks to a simple change of tyre additive. Originally drivers were scheduled to have just four rounds of practice today followed by the first round of qualifying, but race organisers decided that due to the reseed that competitors should be given a chance to practice in their new heat order and the qualifier, run exactly like a heat, was declared a practice run.

After three rounds of free practice for the 2010 DHI Cup it is Team Xray’s Teemu Leino who is at the top of the time sheets here in Odense with his Orion powered T3 recording a best lap time of 16.559.  The former European Champion says he has done little with the set-up on his car and is just waiting for the traction levels to come up on the brand new carpet.  Asked about the track design for the 10th Anniversary of the famous Danish race, the Finn said that it was very tight compared with last year but it was the same for everyone.

Chad’s TQ runs for 1/8 Truck and Buggy came from round 1 of qualifying, in the Short Course class Jeremy Kortz TQed round 1 but Chad took the TQ time by 1 second in round 2. In the 1/8 Truck main, Chad lead from the start and never looked back, the main was 10min long and he completed it without a pit stop winning from Losi drivers Steve Burnside and DJ Silva. The 1/8 Buggy main was a similar affair, however Chad had some pressure early on from Hyper driver Scott Wagner.
