EFRA release their 2010 Race calendar

EFRA 2008 Approved Muffler list

EFRA have released their race calendar for 2009 and it looks to be another busy summer next year as they have managed to squeeze 8 European Championships, running alongside 3 World Championships, into the months of July and August. The season starts early with back to back championships at the end of February, beginning of March, with the Indoor TC euros in Finland, followed a week later by the 1/12th EC in Birmingham. The first EC ‘B’ championships kick off in Lostallo in the middle of May for 1/10th 200mm, followed 2 weeks later with the 1/8th scale on road ‘B’s in Monaco, and then another 2 week gap to bring us to mid June and the 1/8th buggy Euro B’s in Spain. The 1/8th scale on road A champs kick of the mid summer madness in Italy with the 1/12th Worlds in Germany starting on the Sunday of that event and running into the EP Touring car Worlds the weekend after, which happens to clash with the 1/8th buggy Euros in Portugal. Then the week after you have the beginning of 3 weeks of 1/5th scale Euros, in the meantime the Worlds for 200mm will be run in Houston. The week following that event is the Euros for Electric Touring in France, with a one week gap and then back to back Euros for 200mm in Sweden and EP buggy in Austria. The World championship for 1/8th buggy completes the major races, taking part in Thailand in mid November. The late decision to run the Electric track World championships appears to have really clogged up the calendar, clashing with two major events. Normally EFRA would not run a European Championship for a class where Europe has the WC, yet the 1/12th and TC Euros will still take place, further increasing the number of events.

Chad Due & Steven Just win 2009 Electric Fall Classic

Chad Due & Steven Just win 2009 Electric Fall Classic

This past weekend Leisure Hours Raceway presented the 2009 Electric Fall Classic and with over 140 entries this year, it would prove to be another great event. In the competitive 2wd Modified class it was Chad Due, driving his JConcepts equipped Factory Team RC10B4, who was able to TQ with the only 18 lap run of the day. Using TQ honors, Chad was able to jet away from the field and secure the top spot on the podium. 4wd Modified again saw Chad Due, driving his Factory Team B44, taking the TQ honors. In the main however unfortunate circumstances took Chad out early leaving local Wisconsin driver Steven Just, also equipped with JConcepts, to cruise to victory lane.

Denney wins Intermediate Truck at Sidewinder Shootout

Denney wins Intermediate Truck at Sidewinder Shootout

JConcepts are report that Arizona native, Tanner Denney, clearly had his race face on while attending the 2009 Sidewinder Shootout last weekend. Tanner, driving his JConcepts equipped RC8T, was in prime position throughout the A-main but it was his consistency, dynamic driving ability combined with the JConcepts Punisher body, Cross Hairs tires and Mono wheels that gave him the edge and propelled him to success. Tanner adds the Sidewinder Shootout to his already lofty resume of success with JConcepts.

Mark Green wins Gulf Coast Grand Prix

Mark Green wins Gulf Coast Grand Prix

Last weekend saw the Gulf Coast Grand Prix take place in Houston, Texas the host track of next year’s 1/10th scale IFMAR World Championships. The event attracted the US Xray team and the Serpent factory team, which had Mark Green and Michael Salven make the trip over from Europe for the event. In qualifying it was the Xray pairing of Paul Lemieux and Ralph Burch that took the top 2 spots with Paolo Morganti and Mark Green taking 3rd and 4th on the grid for Serpent. The 733 drivers may have struggled earlier in the event but by the final they were on the pace and in the final Green was pushing race leader Lemieux hard early on until he finally got passed, Paul would later crash taking himself out of the race. Behind Mark, who was setting the quickest laps of the entire weekend, the order changed as Salven hit a back marker and Scott Kimbrough came in for tires allowing Burch, who didn’t plan a tire change, to move up to 2nd spot. This strategy appeared to be working but later in the race the car became undriveable as his tires went and he was forced to make a stop for a new outside rear tire, a further crash would see him end up in 5th. Mark Green would take the win by 2 laps from Serpent team mate Paolo Morganti in 2nd, with Scott Kimbrough taking 3rd spot for Kyosho.

Florida State Series Rd3 report

Florida State Series Rd3 report

This past weekend was the 3rd round of the Florida State Series and it was held at the Kissimmee track in Orlando Florida and DJ Apolaro gave us the following report. This race was different since the track owner had many many changes to the track and it was new for all the racers. No one racer had any advantage, as no racers have been allowed to use the track since the renovations. It was a new layout, fresh sealer and all records were to be new for this weekend.
