F1 RCGP Round 5 report

F1 RCGP Round 5 report

The 5th round of the F1RCGP Championship was held recently at Pit In Stadium in Chiba. This round attracted Masayuki Mimura (former 1/8 GP national champion) from Hot Bodies with the brand new HPI Formula 10.The track being used was designed by RC legend Masami Hirosaka and father Masaaki. With no exceptions just as in round 1 and 3 the race started under heavy rain condition and drivers started to try different tires like glue spreaded sponge tires, rubber tires and tamiya tube tires. Apparently most of the drivers got experience from the previous round as most of the cars ran pretty well under rain condition and the biggest issue seemed to be how to avoid water getting into your radio. The first casualty was David Tse running in the F1 class who was in a different league on a 17lap pace but stopped in lap10 with radio failure. All the heats finished under rain condition and Yoshitsugu Takahashi took pole position for the F1 class, while for F1GP class championship leader Hiroshi Kamibayashi (Alex Racing) led the first round with a 19 laps record and eventually took the pole position.

Colorado State Nitro Series Rd2

Colorado State Nitro Series Rd2

This weekend saw the 2nd round of the Colorado State Nitro Series held at Rat Raceway in Denver Colorado. Team Losi Driver Dustin Evans continued his dominant performance from Rd 1 a few weeks ago. Similar to Rd 1, Dustin again marched to the pole position after qualifying with the only 14 lap run. Dustin would go on to lead every lap and win the 35 minute main event unchallenged. Dustin has the points lead and looks to be the favorite for the Series Championship. Team Associated Driver Kody Numedahl Powered his RC8T to the front of qualifying in the Pro Truggy class over Losi Driver Lars Johnson.  In the end Kody took advantage of his start and led every lap in the 35m Pro Truggy Class. Round 3 of the series will be June 13, at Colorado Fast Track in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Groskamp TQs first Dutch ETS Qualifier

Jilles Groskamp action

The opening qualifier for the fourth round of the Euro Touring series here at Apeldoorn in the Netherlands has been completed and it is first blood for defending champion Jilles Groskamp. Intially it was Corally team driver Marc Fisher who set the pace but the German dumped allowing Groskamp to pip him for TQ honours. The Tamiya/Speed Passion driver described his run as ‘clever’ saying he didn’t push hard at the start as practice had shown run time would be an issue especially with everyone running new tyres. Fisher, whose GM powered car is proving very fast in a straight line, put his dumping down to a brand new pack of cells which he said could have done with a few extra charge cycles.
