Neil Cragg takes 4wd European title

Neil Cragg takes 4wd European title

Our friends at oOple are reporting that Neil Cragg took a hard fought win in the 4WD event at the 2008 EFRA European Championships with the new Yokomo B-Max to back up his win in 2wd a few days earlier. Neil didn’t have everything his own way in qualifying – laying in third position overnight. As mentioned in the oOple race report though, the last two qualifiers can change everything and Neils Yokomo was dialled in the last two qualifiers – taking both rounds to give him overall TQ. Neil won the first two legs of the A and sat out the third to allow the other drivers to battle for second. Hupo Honigl took the third in an amazing race with Lee Martin right behind all the way – giving him second overall, with Lee Martin third.

Simon Reeves wins 2008 Belgian GP

Simon Reeves wins Belgian GP

We received a report from Simon Reeves on the Belgium GP for 1/10th electric off road, which is always held the first weekend of July each year. Willy and Lilian who run the meeting always manage to run a relaxed fun meeting which for most is one of the best meetings of the year. This year saw more new additions to the track with a new wall of death and a new triple/double combination in the centre of the track. The 2wd event held on the Saturday was a mixture of sunshine and rain which on the MBV track proves a major challenge as the slightest of rain can make a massive difference to grip levels but we were lucky with 4wd & Truck to have sunshine all day with the odd cloud but most importantly dry all day.

In the 4wd class it was Spanish Factory Much More driver Roberto Garcia, driving his Tamiya 501x, that took the win while in the 2wd class it was Jose Miguel Cantos, racing his Associated B4FT, that took top honours. All the best Spanish Electric off road drivers were in attendance and there was a close battle for the wins in both classes. High temperature at the track of over 30º made the cars and electronics suffer but the drivers had a great weekend and there was a great racing atmosphere.
