In qualifying it was truggy pro round 3 winner, and HoBao runner, Graham Alsop that took the TQ spot in front of Hong Nor racer Simon Willetts in 2nd while David Crompton driving another HoBao ended his qualifying in 3rd. At the start of the main final Graham Alsop and Simon Willets got away from the chasing group of Jamie Booth, John Hazelwood and round 4 winner Neil Cragg. After an unfortunate stop and go penalty for Simon Willets which took him out of the fight for the lead, Neil Cragg and Bloomfield were up front racing for the win. By the last fuel stop Darren had a 10 second lead from Neil who was pushing hard, but he couldnt catch him and thats how it ended, the battle for third was hard fought between Alsop and Booth both pushing like crazy but Graham held on to round out the top 3.

While the 19T guys were getting wet in Stafford, the Modified and 27T Stock racers were getting wet at their National, as the 6th round of the BRCA Championships took place at the Barham track in the south east of the country. The 6th and penultimate round of the 2007 BRCA 19T Touring car Nationals took place at the weekend under wet conditions at the Stafford track in the mid West of England. In the slippy qualifying it was newly crowned champion Chris Kerwell, driving for Corally, that claimed the TQ spot ahead of Jonathan Dronfield in 2nd for Schumacher with Corally driver Steve Lissamore in 3rd. In the first leg of the A-main it was a tight battle at the front with Dronfield being gifted the lead after a mistake for Christopher Delves allowed him into the lead. Kerswell caught up to the Mi3 driver but couldnt get passed and so Dronfield took the leg 1 win. In the 2nd leg there was more action with Kerswell and Dronfield both falling down the order in seperate incidents and both having to recover. Hereford Open Meeting 2007 – Report

Hereford Open Meeting 2007

We received a full report from the Hereford Micro Open event that took place two Sundays ago on the 12th August and which had some of the UK’s best micro off road racers in attendance. The track was a challenging mixture of rumble strips, polished floor drift sections, small kicker jumps, bumpy gym mats, a HUGE 45’ wall ride and equally big table top jump right in front of the rostrum! The track would certainly test car setup and drivers abilities.

Mike Wiseman takes Rd3 of SA Nats

South African Championships round 3

Serpent have a report online from the 3rd round of the South African 1/8th and 1/10th scale Nationals held at the very large Durban track recently. In qualifying it was Mike Wiseman all the way, taking the TQ with his Serpent 720 and 960 respectively continuing his dominant form from the first 2 rounds of the National series. In the 1/10th scale race it was a great dice between Mike Wiseman and Travis Carlyle, as they fought for the win with Wiseman eventually coming out on top. Finishing 2nd, Carlyle now leads the Championship with one round to go while another local youngster, Shaun White, rounded off the podium in 3rd. The 1/8th scale was fought out at a furious pace with four drivers contesting the lead, with Mike Wiseman, Hein Kotze, Jacques Liebenberg and Wayne Joelson never more than a few seconds apart. At the 20-minute mark, Kotze and Joelson came in to change tyres, which saw them lose time on Wiseman and Liebenberg who opted to run the full distance on one set. Liebenberg eventually dropped back a bit, giving Wiseman the win by over a lap at the end of the 45 minute final from Joelson in 2nd and Liebenberg 3rd.
