Dario Balestri wins Rd3 Italian Nationals

Last weekend, the 3rd round of the Italian 1/8th scale Nationals were run in Cassino, in the south west of the country. Weather was perfect and in qualifying it saw Daniele Ielasi, winner of the French EFRA GP last week, take the top qualifying position ahead of former European Champion Massimo Fantini, while 3rd spot went to Andrea Cristiani, winner of last weekends ATS Trophy race, held on the same track. In the race it was European 1/10th scale Champion Dario Balestri with his Motonica and Fantini with Serpent that made their way to the front of the field battling hard for the entire race. Cristiani had problems with the wheels on his car which put him out of contention while Ielasi and Fabio Domanin collided with each other 3 minutes from the end, taking both drivers out. This allowed Alberto Picco up into 3rd, where he finished, also clinching the Italian National title, while up front Balestri took the win by half a second from Fantini who finished 2nd. In the Junior race it was won by Serpent racer Nicola De Vallier.

Steve Brown wins BRCA 200mm Rd5

The 5th round of the BRCA 1/10th 200mm Foam Nationals were run last weekend at the Brooklands track in the south of England. The weather was fine for qualifying and it saw the pole position going to round 3 winner Darren Johnson, racing the Team Magic G4+ while in 2nd place was Robin Hammet with 3rd spot on the grid going to Kyosho driver Steven Brown. Just at the start of the main final however, the rain started to fall and continue for the length of the race, only stopping when the race ended. This of course caused plenty of rush tyre decisions and as all the rain related dramas settled down it was Steve Brown that emerged out in front, keeping it clean and going on to take the win from Mugen racer Paul Knapton in 2nd, only 1 lap behind, while 3rd spot went to Tim Wood racing a Serpent.

Adam Drake Wins ROAR Buggy Nats

Adam Drake Wins ROAR Nationals

In an eventful final at this years ROAR Gas Buggy Nationals in Missouri, it was Team Losi driver Adam Drake that walked away with the National title. Up until the half way mark of the race it seemed to look like being a dominant victory by pole man Ryan Maifield, driving the Associated RC8, but continued technical problems dropped him down the order until he finally stopped completely. Adam Drake inherited the lead because of this, and despite a late charge by O’Donnell racer Jared Tebo in the closing stages of the 60 minute race, the Drake could hold on for the win, with Tebo close behind in 2nd, while the 3rd spot went to Ryan Cavalieri, driving the Associated buggy.
