Cavalieri and Maifield

As in qualifying, the racing at this years Cactus Classic was dominated by the Team Associated pairing of Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield, between them picking up all the big trophies in the modified classes. In the 4wd buggy mod class it was Cavalieri who took the win despite a disastrous 1st main where he only finished 9th allowing Masami Hirosaka to take the round win, but Ryan was able to pull it back together to take the wins in the final 2 mains to take the overall win, with Yokomo racer Hirosaka ending up in 2nd, with Maifield in 3rd. As well as the 1st round of the 1/10th Nationals that we wrote about that took place last weekend, the first round of the 1/8th scale Nationals took place on the same weekend in Avignon. In qualifying it was Mugen racer Stephane Bouche that would claim the pole position ahead of Kyosho racer Sebastian Zatla in 2nd and Adrien Siegfried, also driving a Kyosho in 3rd. At the start of the main final Guillot is knocked off the track and almost loses a lap while Bouche and Siegfried are left to battle it out at the front, Siegfried eventually having to retire with mechanical problems gifting Bouche the lead. All the time Guillot is working his way up the field having found a good pace and when Bouche has a problem, Guillot pounces and takes the lead and with it his first ever win in the Elite class followed home by Bouche in 2nd and Zatla in 3rd.
