Milan Holthuis wins Rd5 of Dutch 1/10th nats

The tight and twisty track at Gouda played host to round 5 of the Dutch 1/10 IC national series. The weather was glorious with the high temperatures stressing the engines to the max. Saturday saw a busy track with everyone searching for a stable setup for the low grip, but the track also demands a lot of steering in the many hairpins. Not an easy balance. Sunday started with the qualifiers and it would be Milan Holthuis that edged out Julius Kolff for Pole. With tire wear on the high side, the final was tight on tires. Some elected for a tire change where others tried to get through the half hour with one set. After the B final provided the two bump ups, one of which was one of the youngsters Merijn Schipper that drove a consistent race to earn his place in the A main. The A final saw Milan streak away from pole. The challenge from Julius never came as he broke a driveshaft in the 2nd minute. That left the fight for second to be the highlight of the race. It was Jurmin Etnel that would claim the second step on the rostrum as Dave de Ruyter put his car over the curb onto the grass in the last lap to lose his second spot. The last round will be in September on the superb AMCA track at Apeldoorn.

Thanks to Julius Kolff for the report.

Bezerk RC Pro 10 Winter Series Rd2 – Report

The second round of the Bezerk RC Pro 10 Winter Series was held at England Park Raceway, Brisbane, Australia this weekend. The full long track layout was used for the event and a good field of Pro 10’s turned up to compete. After three rounds of qualifying Shannon Overson’s Bezerk Litesabre secured TQ with Clayton Hughes (Litesabre) second and Scott Tapsall’s (Xray X10W) filling out the top three. Clayton Hughes set the fastest lap time of the night in round three of qualifying with a 14.606 second lap. Heading into the third final it was one win each between Clayton and Shannon. Unfortunately in the decider Clayton’s Bezerk Litesabre had a mechanical failure while leading which handed the race and round win over to Shannon. Clayton secured second place for the round with Terry Norman finishing an impressive third place with his new 73RC chassis. All in all it was a fantastic night of super fast competitive racing with some very sportsmanship behaviour shown in the finals. The third and final round will be held on the 21st of September.

BRCA Clubmans Series 2019 Rd6 – Report

Round 6 of the BRCA Clubmans nationals visited Coastal Model Car Racing Club in Ipswich, Suffolk and offered up a very different challenge to the drivers of the series, being dubbed the Monaco of RC racing. The tight confines, punishing barriers but rhythm nature of the track really challenges the drivers and the cars, as this track is much more about chassis setup, and driver skill, than outright power. The Saturday practice saw a number of drivers stepping over the limits and coming off second best to the barriers early on. However with glorious sunshine all day most drivers soon got into the flow of the coastal circuit, and we saw lap times tumble through the day. Some quick times were posted in the practice day, and race day was set to be a cracker.
