2019 HNMC Member GP – Report

Every year the HNMC runs a Members GP this is a free meeting to thank all the club members for their support. They used a different race format this meeting with 15-minute qualifiers and 30-minute finals for Nitro and 10-minute qualifiers for E-Buggy and Truggy and two leg 12-minute finals – this was run as FTQ. When the qualifiers were over, Kevin Brunsden took the TQ in Nitro Buggy, Richard Miller took TQ in E-Buggy and George Miller top qualified Truggy. In the Nitro Buggy main Kevin Brunsden took the win from Taro Cradock and Owen Luckin. Truggy was won by George Miller from Darren Roper and James Morl. Over in E-Buggy it was Ricky Copper from James Clarke and Rick Spiers.

Greiner wins at EFRA GP Series Rd3 as Balestri takes title

The third and final round of the EFRA GP Series was held at the iconic Türkheim track in Germany last weekend. The 1/10th 200mm Touring class was dominated by Serpent’s Dominic Greiner, who took the win in the 45-minute A-main with a margin of three laps on runner-up, Dario Balestri (Infinity). Xray’s Leo Arnold came in 3rd, some six seconds short of Dario’s time. Carmine Raiola and Patrick Nähr completed the top 5, some two laps behind the Leo. Overall in the championship it was Dario Balestri with the title from Infinity teammate, Carmine Raiola on the runner-up spot. Serpent’s Alex Thurston came in 3rd to round out the overall top 3 podium.

Dutch Buggy Cup Rd2 win for Jeffrey Halsema

The second round of the Dutch Buggy Cup was held at the Fivelcrossers track in Appingedam this past weekend. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Wesley van Helmond with the overall TQ in front of Jarno Pijpers and Jordy Felder. The 30-minute main final then saw Jeffrey Halsema (Team Associated) taking the win a lap in front of JQRacing driver Oane Storm. Top qualifier Wesley van Helmond (SWorkz) had to settle for 3rd, some eight seconds behind Oane.

Mikey Brown wins at DieHard RC Summer Turf Series Rd2

DieHard RC of Snohomish, Washington held round 2 of their Summer Turf Series this past weekend. In the premier 2WD Modified Buggy class it was Team Associated driver Travis Schreven with the overall TQ with Schumacher’s Mikey Brown on the 2 spot and Serpent driver Colin Branch in 3rd. In the single 7-minute A-main it was an intense battle with several lead changes, but in the end Mikey would edge out Travis for the win by 1.6 seconds. Travis came in 2nd while Colin completed the top 3, only 1.7 seconds behind.

BRCA Touring Car Series Rd2 – Report

The second round of the BRCA Touring Car Series took to the North of England and one of the premier tracks in the country, Halifax. With mixed weather in the area there were winners and losers in both the Modified and Stock classes. In the Modified class Schumacher’s Olly Jefferies lined up 2nd on the grid after qualifying behind Xray’s Elliott Harper, but both were on a different tyre strategy so the finals would be interesting. In the first leg Olly pressured Elliott hard for the first few minutes and managed to make a pass, Elliott pushed hard to retake the lead but made a mistake in the fast left. This enabled Olly to take victory from Elliott and Team Associated’s Zak Smith. In a similar scenario in the second leg Olly managed to pass Elliott to take the win again, taking maximum points for the weekend, which was very important for the championship. Zak was 3rd again with Andy Murray 4th overall, an excellent result from 10th on the grid.

Ongaro & Orlowski win at EFRA EP Buggy Euros warm-up

The Italian Pinerolo track hosted the EFRA 1/10th Buggy European Championship warm-up race this past weekend. In the 2WD Buggy class it was current 1/8th Nitro Buggy World Champion, Davide Ongaro (Team Associated) with the win from Schumacher’s Michael Orlowski on the runner-up spot. Xray’s Martin Bayer came in 3rd to round out the podium.

2019 VRC Spec Class Worlds – Announcement

This June will see the running of the Spec Class VRC Worlds in various Nitro and Electric, On-road and Off-road categories. The fun kicks off on the 5th of June with Nitro Sedans, 1/12th scale Sports Cars and Rally X. All Spec classes are part of VRC’s free2play package – all that is needed is the respective track.
