DJ Apolaro wins at Miami Grand Prix

Last weekend the 2019 Miami Grand Prix was held in Homestead, Florida. In the 1/8th class final DJ Apolaro, starting from the 3 spot, kept the pace at the beginning and had a good battle with Roniel Regalado. With Paolo having an early issue and Gianni as well, it was really between Ronnie and DJ. After the first pit stop cycle, Apolaro’s pitman, Ricardo Garri did a great job and they took over the lead. DJ would exchange leading over the next couple of pit stops and at the half way point he started to separate himself from the pack. The others did their tyre change but DJ did not as he planned to stick with a single set of tyres. This gave him a 2-lap lead and he never looked back to take the win. Roniel Regalado would take 2nd two laps back and Poalo Mortganti rounded out the top 3 for the last podium spot.

Norwegian Touring Nationals Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Norwegian Touring Nationals was held in wet conditions at the Helganes Motorsports Centre in Karmøy. With several entrants pulling out due to the weather conditions, only 6 drivers made up the Modified qualifiers, that already from the start seemed to be a battle between Øyvind Stusdal and Nikolai Håheim. As the rain had been pouring down during the night, and the rain showers were expected to continue during the day, the race officials decided to declare it a wet race, and the track was indeed very wet. Stussdahl took Q1, five seconds ahead of Håheim, before Håheim fought back in Q2 securing the heat. An unfortunate mechanical error set an early stop for Stusdal in Q3, securing Håheim the TQ.
