Rayan Medjoubi wins at Agathoise race

The 2019 Agathoise race was held at the Agde track near Montpellier, France last weekend. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Rayan Medjoubi with the win in the 20-minute main final, some 20 seconds in front of Eliot Marcon while Antoinne Guyonnet rounded out the top 3 result a lap down.

Xray Racing Series Slovenia Rd4 – Report

The fourth and final round of the 2018/19 Xray Racing Series Slovenia was held at the Genius Ring facility in Medeuzza recently. Drivers from six different countries – Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Slovenia – signed in for the final round with Germany’s electric on-road ace, Jan Ratheisky being one of them. The event was held in 13.5T Touring and 21.5T Formula classes with all of them using control XRS motors and Hudy tyres to make for a level playing field. The weekend kicked off with practice on Saturday while Sunday was race day. In the 13.5T Touring class it was Jan Ratheisky who would set the pace, leaving behind his Xray teammates Matej Dobnikar and Fabio Ghilotti in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

USVTA Triple Crown Rd1 – Report

Round 1 of the USVTA Triple Crown was held in Arlington Heights, Illinois at Windy City Raceway last weekend. The track and facility were top notch and the event ran smooth from beginning to end. The focus of the event were the classes governed by the USVTA rules, which included Formula, Vintage Trans Am, and United States Grand Touring. The Formula class saw 13 drivers from around the country, while VTA would see 22 and USGT 19. In qualifying, John Barron III (Xray) coming up from Tennessee would take the TQ in Formula with Rob King and Jimmy Stegen separated by .05 for 2nd and 3rd. VTA would see Clayton Young (Awesomatix) flying in from Maryland to take the TQ, with David Painter and Scott Windser rounding out the top three.  USGT would see local star Chris Sanchez (ARC) taking TQ honors over Clayton Young and Eric Schneeweis sitting 2nd and 3rd.

Mibosport Cup Rd5 – Report

Last weekend’s round 5 of the 2018/19 Mibosport Cup not only saw the running of several electric off-road classes but also attracted a bunch of on-road racers to come out and compete. The record entry meant controlled practice had to cut short to allow for a reasonable ending of the day. Following the free and controlled practice on Friday things got serious on Saturday. In the Touring Modified class full things went up and down for the drivers with the challenging track layout meaning things mixed up quite a bit throughout the day. However, the top of the field remained the same as Zdenko Kunak secured the TQ position and brought home a deserved win. Oliver Havranek managed to stay in Zdenko’s slipstream to finish 2nd. Right behind him it was Jakub Rozycki from a storming Andreas Stiebler and Matej Sulc.

2019 Keilor Invitational Race – Report

The 2019 Keilor Invitational Race was held in Melbourne, Australia last weekend. Australia’s outdoor version of the Reedy Race, the Keilor Invitational, has been held since 2014 with the top 10 1/10 Off-Road Modified and Stock racers from around the country racing head to head against each other over five rounds of 2WD and five rounds of 4WD for the overall Invitational title. In addition to the Invite classes, Open classes are offered with the winners receiving automatic invite to the following years event, and a junior 2WD class is also offered for the stars of tomorrow. The 2019 event had hot summer weather throughout the event, resulting in a naturally grooved track. The layout for this event was fast and flowing, with a huge tabletop to quad jump that required timing to navigate and proved decisive in the race results. Around 160 entries were received in total, with racers travelling from all around the country.

Martin Bayer takes double Mibosport Cup title

The grand final of the 2018/19 Mibosport Cup was held in Hrotovice last weekend with a record entry of 270 drivers. The race was special in that way, that double points were given, meaning overall standing could change a lot. The race was held in the usual electric on-road and off-road classes and in the buggy categories it was Hupo Hönigl who dominated the 2WD practice rounds while Martin Bayer was fastest in 4WD. After the qualifiers however it was Martin on top in both classes followed by Ales Bidovsky and Hupo in 2nd and 3rd in 2WD, while in 4WD it was Adam Izsay 2nd and Hupo again 3rd.

20th Annual Dirt Nitro Challenge – Report

There are not many RC races that are bigger, do it better, and have the intensity like The Dirt Nitro Challenge. This year was special as it marked the 20th Annual of the biggest nitro race on US soil and this year didn’t disappoint. Almost every manufacturer sent drivers to this race making the atmosphere very much like a Worlds competition with numerous drivers traveling from all across Europe to join in on the action. This year, it was offered a little bit of everything. From freezing cold temps, high winds, rain delays, and eventually sunshine, mother nature played a dramatic part, but this is nothing new for an outdoor race. What was different this year was the location and venue as the DNC was relocated after news broke last year that Fear Farm was shutting down. Now, located at the Perris, California’s Southern California Fair Grounds, there’s a new look to the DNC but still consisted of the same awesome racing vibes that its well known for.

2018/19 RugRacers Rd5 – Report

The fifth and penultimate round of the 2018/19 RugRacers series was held last weekend. The 13.5 Blinky Touring championship is set to go right to the wire. Paul Pinkney took the FTQ to make the finals really interesting, Ashley Wiffen would line up 2nd ahead of Tony Broad in 3rd with both drivers needing to maximise their scores for the championship. After two thrilling legs Tony came through to take the victory with Paul 2nd and Ashley 3rd. The championship going down to the last round to decide the 13.5 blinky championship where qualifying position could be crucial for the final outcome.
