Basile Concialdi wins at Brieuc Indoor Grand Prix

Last weekend’s Saint Brieuc International Indoor Grand Prix not only was held in 1/8th scale but also a 1/10th 200mm class. The special conditions of an indoor nitro track required some unusual adjustments and it was Shepherd’s Basile Concialdi who quickly found a good setup to win the opening qualifier ahead of Kévin Rasquin who came back to win Q2. Basile got it all together to win the the third and final round, improving Kevin’s time by over two seconds. In the half-hour long final Basile, despite the ever increasingly difficult track conditions, pulled a gap and took a strong win in front of Capricorn’s Thomas Guillon and Xray’s Anthony Stephan who completed the podium.

Felix Law TQs & wins at FSEARA Rd3

The 3rd round of the FSEARA on-road series made its way to Nugget’s Ranch Raceway in Arcadia, Florida. The 1/8th and 1/10th scale track is a permanent facility that provided some amazing speeds and close racing. The second biggest class this weekend was Expert Mod Touring and once again had some close racing throughout qualifying. Felix Law (Serpent) and Dave Vera traded TQs every round, but it was Felix who put down a blistering run in the 3rd and final round for the overall TQ. Team Associated’s Paul Wynn put together his best run in the third round to edge out Dave for 2nd overall. The 6-minute main would see a dominated performance by Felix as he would lead tone to tone with a flawless drive. Dave showed great pace, but had to show some patients behind Paul for the first few laps before getting around him and going on to a comfortable 2nd overall. Paul sitting about three seconds back in 3rd had an unexpected traction roll at the end of the straight with one lap to go giving up the position to Monti Panzia (Awesomatix) for 3rd overall.

With Joona having problems in the first qualifying it was Jamiel who started with a TQ with Pekko and Lauri Ruotsalainen in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Maximum points haul for Coelho at ETS Daun

Having opened his title defence with a 6th place in Austria, Bruno Coelho made amends for the disappointing result by taking maximum championship points this weekend from the second round of the Euro Touring Series in Daun, Germany.  Winner of the same event last year, the Xray driver again secured the overall TQ and despite the best efforts of a very on form Freddy Sudhoff wrapped up the overall win in A2.  Sudhoff would secure 2nd overall with the win in A3 ahead of Christopher Krapp who avoided a first lap pile up – 2nd place promoting the Yokomo driver to fourth overall.  The incident was triggered by Ronald Volker making contact with Alexander Hagberg and with them crossing the loop to 7th and 9th respectively it was Volker who completed the podium with his 3rd and 4th from the first two Mains.  Coming into the weekend as the championship points leader, the 3rd place is enough for Volker to retain that lead – the advantage still 3-points but now over Coelho.
