Round 1 of the 2018/19 Winter Points Series was held at P&T Hobbies in Indiana. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class it was JP Richards with the TQ and win from Galen McCreary on the 2 spot. The podium was rounded out by RC legend Brian Dunbar who recently came back out of retirement.

The TSAR track near Toulouse played host to last weekend’s final round of the French 1/8th Nitro Buggy Championship. The race for the overall TQ was a very entertaining one with three different top qualifiers in four rounds. Ultimately it was TLR’s Renaud Savoya with the overall and he would also start from pole position into the 45-minute A-main event. In the opening lap however Renaud made a mistake, leaving Team Associated’s Tom Robin as well as Xray’s Yannick and Jerome Aigoin battling for the lead. Savoya eventually recovered to take the top spot again only to run in mechanical issues in the later stages of the race that cost him a lap. From there he suffered with pace which allowed Tom Robin to take the lead in the closing stages and to take the win from Jerome and Yannick. Renaud ended the race on the 4 spot which was enough for him to take the overall championship title.

Round 4 of the Spanish Electric On-road Nationals was held at the Villarreal track last weekend. The event saw the running of the three classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock and Formula. In the popular Touring Stock class it was Richard Rioja with the overall TQ from Luis Enrique Carrasco. With two wins in the opening two A-mains however it was Luis Enrique who hold the upper hand with his Awesomatix from Awesomatix team mate David Rebollo. Xray’s Richard Rioja had to settle for 3rd overall.

The TLR Cup West was held at Tacoma RC Raceway in Tacoma, Washington recently, attracting over 150 entires. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class it was TLR’s Dakotah Phend with the TQ and win from Team Associated’s Harley Yoshii on the 2 spot. Harley would be successful in A1, however Dakotah stroke back in A2 and A3 for the overall, leaving behind Yoshii in 2nd as Schumacher driver Mikey Brown rounded out the top 3 results.

The EWS Events team has announced details of the 2018 EWS International event. The race will take place on the weekend of the 7th to 9th of December, at the usual Essex Winter Series venue in the South-East of the UK. There will be classes for Modified Touring,13.5 Blinky Super Stock and17.5 Blinky Amateur Stock, all using the ETS-spec Volante carpet tyre. Last year saw the likes of Ronald Volker, Marc Rheinard, Max Machler and Christopher Krapp fighting for the titles, and these drivers have confirmed they will all return, with Infinity, Yokomo, Awesomatix and Xray all committed to sending Factory Team drivers to the ever-growing event. Details and rules can be found on the EWS website. Entries open this evening, 11th of October, at 19:30 UK Time (20:30 CET) on MyRCM and are expected to fill very quickly. RC Raceway recently held its 3rd annual King of Carpet Off-Road Radio Control Championship. The 2-day event brought in some of the fastest racers from around the United States to compete for the prestigious title King of Carpet. When the dust had settled it was Blake Champlin with the TQ and win in the Expert 2WD Buggy class with Broc Champlin coming in 2nd. Frank Root would round out the podium in 3rd after the three A-main events.
The third round of the Northern Greek Nitro Buggy regionals was held recently in Thessaloniki. In the main final Tasos Paparegas (Xray) was able to pull away quite easily and he brought home the win in front of Radiosistemi driver, Nukos Grigoriadis as Xray’s Ioannis Paparegas rounded out the top 3 results.

Lap Paradise Raceway hosted the final round of the Singapore RCMC 1/8 Nitro Buggy National Championship last weekend. Wonderful weather greeted a total of 45 drivers that attended the race which included the three classes of 1/8th Buggy, Truggy and E-Buggy. Defending Champion Joe Hwee (HB Racing/O.S./AKA) seemed to be in good form as he claimed TQ after topping all the three qualifying rounds. Fadzil (Mugen/O.S./PL) who recently showed good pace during the FEMCA races managed to put in a clean run in Q3 to claim P2 while Wenyi (Mugen/O.S./PL) and Ah Leng (Mugen/Mugen/AKA) managed to qualify 3rd and 4th and Young Gun Danial (Kyosho/O.S./PL) qualified 5th.
