The second round of the XRS/PLMS on-road series was held in Ścinawka Średnia with more than 60 drivers in attendance. In the fastest class of the weekend, Touring Modified, the number of entries was pretty low, however the quality of racing was second to none as the top 3 had some super close battles for the win with Martin Korinek ultimately bringing home the overall from runner-up, Jarosław Siwek and 3rd placed Jakub Michalski who rounded out an all-Xray top 3.
The organisers of the Dirt Nitro Challenge have announced that the official registration for the 2018 edition is now open. With upgrades to the Fear Farm facility underway, the organisers have been given the green light for the upcoming event and they will also limit the number of 1/8th scale entries to ensure a reasonable nightly finish hour and guarantee quality advertised track time, meaning spots available will sell out fast. Round 6 of the Belgian SCT Cup was held at the Off-road Racing RC Torhout club. The event marked the serie’s first visit at the venue whose 250 metres long astro turf track offers both technical and flatout sections, with some tricky jumps in between that require very precise driving. Due to rainy weather in the built up to the event, the track was still wet in the morning and it took until the afternoon to dry up, making tyre choice critical. In Pro2 qualifying, Géry Ledocq (Kyosho) took the TQ by winning all three rounds while Nicolas Evens (TLR) obtained the second spot of the grid despite some mechanical issues in the final run. Tom Vercarre (TLR) and Guillaume Laffut (TeamC) fought for P3 all morning long and eventually it was Tom who rounded out the top 3 results.

Madrid played host to the final round of the Spanish National Series. Going into the finale Javier Alonso, Marc Moix, Javi Ferrando and Carlos Ferrando all had their chance to get the title and it was Javier who set the early pace by TQing three of the qualifying rounds while Carlos locked the P2 spot on the grid after coming out fastest in the final two qualifiers. In the first main, Javier Alonso had a big crash at the beginning which let Carlos Ferrando pick up the lead and cruise to the finish line. In A2, Javier Alonso was on new tyres which gave him enough advantage to take the main easily so in the last leg, the title was at stake between Alonso and Ferrando. Both soon separated from the field and fought for the championship, which finally ended up in Carlos’ hands. The podium was completed by Javi Ferrando making a 1-2-3 for Xray.
Last weekend saw the first round of the 2017/18 British Championship for LMP12 pan cars. The first race of the season took place at the Eastbourne track in the south of England. The club has a regular facility in a sports hall, and laid out a fantastic track on ETS carpet. The track used a mixture of hard drainpipe markers and small bot-dots on the tricky corners. The layout made for great crash-free racing, and saw the drivers unanimous in their praise for the new ‘small’ bot-dots. The Championship has three classes being contested, on Saturday all drivers compete in the 13.5 Stock class, and on Sunday drivers choose either 6.5 blinky Modified or 13.5 blinky Sports Modified.

Round 2 of the Danish Electric On-road Nationals was recently held in Vejle. The Touring Modified class saw Xray’s Mike Gosvig dominate as he took all three qualifiers and finals to make a clean sweep. Patrick Danielsen (Xray) was not able to keep up with Mike’s speed and finished all races about three to five seconds short of Gosvig’s time, however he was able to take the runner-up spot after the finals in front of Yokomo’s Frederik Hovgaard.
A new round of the popular Hit Winter race series was held at the Holešov gymnasium in the Czech Republic. In the premier Touring Modified category Matěj Šulc confirmed his speed and took the overall TQ spot after winning the triple qualifiers. In the finals it was the same story again as Matěj took the overall, however he was under pressure of Kuba Šimurda but Matěj didn’t allow any dramas and so Kuba had to settle for 2nd overall. After a successful third A-main leg, Karel Kratochvíl took the overall 3rd place from Ludvík Kureček and Michal Vítámvas.

Mugen Seiki Racing have announced the signing of 14-times Brazilian 1/8th on-road champion, Flavio Elias to their team. Flavio brings a tremendous amount of experience in racing which will be a huge asset to Mugen Seiki Racing’s on-road team. Flavio will be attending all Brazilian Nationals and major events in South America and he will also race at the 1/10th IFMAR Nitro Touring Car World Championship in 2018.
