Greiner tops seeding at ENS Italy

Dominic Greiner looks to be having no issue picking up where he left off in the Euro Nitro Series, with 1:10 class returnee topping seeding at the season finale in Italy.  The Serpent driver, whose last ENS outing in 1:10 was at the same venue 12-months ago when he took the TQ and victory, set the fastest 3-consecutive laps in the second of the two controlled practices.  As in free practice Bruno Coelho, who was quickest after CP1, was his closest rival with Alessio Mazzeo completing the Top 3.  Returning to racing after a 5-month break, Italian David Loppini made it three Xrays in the Top 6, seeding P4 ahead of WRC’s Toni Gruber and Mugen’s Dirk Wischnewski.

Salemi leads the way in practice at ENS finale

Mirko Salemi was a somewhat surprise name at the top of the time sheets at the end of free practice.  The Mugen driver set the fastest 5-consecutive laps over first time track visitor Naoto Matsukura with reigning champion Simon Kurzbuch completing the Top 3.  With the main focus in Fiorano, Italy, on the title battle between Kurzbuch and Bruno Coelho, the latter would only post the 16th fastest time.  The Xray driver said, ‘yesterday was very good but today is not going as well.  We changed a lot on the car to try go faster but we need to back to our previous set-up. I think once we do it will be ok’.  Making his first appearance since being crowned World Champion in France, a very under the weather Dario Balestri would end up only 8th quickest.

Speed King Tour Rd5 – Report

After a two month break, round 5 of the Speed King Tour 2017 took place at Twin Ring Honguu outdoor tarmac track in the Aichi prefecture. Open to Modified and Stock touring as well as Oval class racing, in the Modified class qualifying was very close with a number of drivers finishing within 0.1 seconds of each but it was Yokomo driver Yugo Nagashima who took TQ. Naito won the Oval class while local driver Tsuboi, who started on pole, would go on to win in the Stock class and then it was time for the 7 minutes Modified class final. Yugo made a good start as Ryosuke Yamamoto and Sota Goto chased him down but the chasing pair got into each other and dropped out of contention at the three minutes mark. Yugo would go on to win the round while track owner Masayuki Oyaizu finished second with his Yokomo BD8. TRF driver Takayuki Kono driving the new TRF419XR rounded out the podium in 3rd. The next and final round of the Speed King tour 2017 will be held at Sagamido racing track in the Kanagawa prefecture on the 12th of November.

Greiner marks 1:10 ENS return with quickest time in free practice

Dominic Greiner has marked his return to 1:10 in the Euro Nitro Series with the fastest time in free practice at the Mini Autodromo Jody Scheckter track in Fiorano, Italy.  The Serpent driver was quickest over the 10 rounds of free practice with his fastest 5-consecutive laps recorded in yesterday’s closing run.  Also setting his best time in FP7, championship leader Bruno Coelho would be the closest to Greiner with Xray team-mate Alessio Mazzeo completing the Top 3.  Of the three free practice rounds run today, it was Mazzeo who had the advantage, topping 2 of the rounds with FP9 leaving him 3rd quickest overall ahead of Dirk Wischnewski and Toni Gruber.

Arrowmax Asia Race Cup 2017 Beijing – Race report

After Guanzhou and Shanghai, the Arrowmax Asia Race Cup travelled to the capital city of China, Beijing. Hosted by INCOM Arena, the beautiful indoor facility would feature high traction black carpet and with the control AM tires being very different with what those at the track were using, it provided a big challenge for all attending drivers. As with the Shanghai and Guanzhou rounds, the Beijing League would also earning a ticket to Japan for AARC grand final. Three classes were run including the Arrowmax 1/10th EP Modified touring class, Dash 13.5T Stock touring Class and the Dash 21.5T Formula class, both Stock and Formula classes would use control motors supplied by Dash.

Kurzbuch & Coelho go head to head in Italy for ENS title

The fourth season of the Euro Nitro Series concludes this weekend in Italy where all eyes will be on the 1:8 title show down between reigning champion Simon Kurzbuch and Bruno Coelho, the latter also vying for his first ENS title in 1:10.  Since the creation of the ENS in 2014, the world famous nitro circuit of Fiorano once again hosts the season finale and for Kurzbuch the trip this year presents a very different senario to 12-months ago when he went there already crowned the champion and chasing the record of a perfect season, something the Shepherd driver duly achieved when he took his fourth win of the four race calendar.  This time round he faces a new title rival in Coelho, the rc all round star having surprised everyone with a genuine first 1:8 win at the season opener in France. Backing that up with second place finishes at Round 2 & 3, pushing Kurzbuch for the win at both rounds, it will now all come down to Sunday’s final – 3 from 4 rounds to count.

SARDA 1/12th National Championship Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the 2017 South-African ORE 1/12th national championship series was held at the Welkom RC Arena on Saturday 23 September 2017. The busy 2017 RC racing schedule and a long weekend in South Africa celebrating Heritage Day made that not all the 1/12th drivers could attend the one day event.

Savoya wins Rd5 to take French Title

Last weekend the TSAR held the fifth and final round of the French National Elite. A fantastic track and a wonderful event, in qualifying Reno Savoya battled with Tom Robin but in the end Reno took 4 out of the 5 rounds compared to 1 for Tom. The overall title was to be decided in this last final between Reno, Jerome and Yannick Aigoin. Rayan Medjoubi took the early lead, but following some issues Reno was able to take over the lead where he would stay to the end as Yannick Aigoin took 2nd in front of Eliot Marcon. Savoya’s win, a fifth podium finish from 5 races for the TLR/RC Concepts driver saw him clinch the overall championship for the second time in a row.
