Jordan Huzel wins at Calgary Stampede Race

The Calgary Stampede Race was held at RC Gears in Calgary, Alberta recently. The track layout was more narrow and tighter than the last few years, something the drivers had to adapt to. In the 1/8th E-Buggy class Jordan Huzel was the man to beat as he TQ’d the first and third qualifier for the overall TQ and he also won A1 and A3 to take the day’s win from Carter H. in 2nd and Byron Mackenzie 3rd. Robert Bowers and Patrick Erickson rounded out the top 5 result.

2017 Asian Onroad Championships Rd3 – Report

The third round of the 2017 Asian Onroad Championships was held in Canberra, Australia. With a huge turnout from the local racers as well as International privateers and factory drivers, this is the best AOC Australia to date. Following up on a great start, it was Awesomatix factory driver Viljami Kutvonen who went start to finish up front in both of the first two mains in Modified Touring Car to grab the premiere class title. Destiny’s Jin Sawada from Japan definitely kept things exciting and kept Kutvonen honest by pressuring, but never was a serious threat to the Finnish driver’s up front position and had to settled for second overall.

Corona Shepherd Cup Rd3 – Report

The third round of the Corona Shepherd Cup was hosted by the Hong Kong based TRC track. A total of 63 racers from Singapore, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong attended the event that was held in extremely hot weather conditions. In the 1/10th Nitro Open class Luk Chi Hung took the TQ, closely followed by Chau-man Chan in 2nd. In the main final the battle went on till the third round of pit stops with both drivers being on the same fuel strategy. When Luk Chi-hung ran into some problems with his car, Chau-man took over the lead. The battle up front allowed Wei-kei Wong, Vincent Lau, Taxi Pong and Ming-chung Wong to reduce the gap but in the final minutes Chau-man was able to defend the lead, crossing the finishing line in 1st position followed by Wei-kei Wong in 2nd and Vincent Chau in 3rd place.

Laret, Martin & Knight win at JBRL Nitro Series Rd5

Round 5 of the JBRL Nitro Series was held at Thunder Alley R/C Raceway in Beaumont, California. In the Intermediate Buggy class Eddie Laret would take the win from 2nd placed Marcus Garret while Cole Jenson rounded out the podium result in 3rd. The Rookie Buggy category saw John Martin walking away with the win while Ryan Fleefisch and Glenn Wolfgang completed the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Finally in Sportsman Truggy it was Kevin Knight with the win from David Delgardo and Louis Fernandez.

Marcel Elissen wins at Tonisport Onroad Series Rd6

Round 6 of the Tonisport Onroad Series was held at the MAC-Meckenheim Club in Germany. In the Formula class it was Marcel Elissen who dominated the qualifying and the finals to take home the win in front of Sascha Braun on the runner-up spot. Marcel Facius would complete the podium result in 3rd.

Heiko Peglow wins at 3-Länder-Cup

The MCSC Wächtersbach club near Frankfurt, German recently held the grand opening race of the newly-established 3-Länder-Cup series. In the electric GT8 class Mugen driver Heiko Peglow walked away with the win in front of fellow Mugen racer, Jörg Wegmann. HoBao driver Jens Förster secured himself the final podium spot in 3rd.

Cody King wins at DTR Track Challenge Rd2

This past weekend round 2 of the DTR Track Challenge was held at Dialed in RC Raceway in Victorville, California. Qualifying did not go the way Cody King wanted it to, so he would start 4th on the grid. At the start of the 20 minute final Cody would get past 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the first corner. He saw that as his chance to push it and get away and that’s what he did as the HB Racing driver got about a 15-second lead that he would hold onto the entire race to take the win in the Expert Buggy class from Mugen’s Adam Drake and Kyosho’s Anthony Westergaard.

Fanda Kalenda wins Czech Open Rd7

Round 7 of the Czech Open Series was held in Kolin this past weekend. The event started off on a wet track that would dry slowly but ultimately the weather made for good racing conditions with the 1/8th Nitro Buggy main being won by Fanda Kalenda (Serpent) in front of Milan Mudra (Xray) who suffered some problems in the final. The podium was rounded out by Kyosho driver Tomáš Kapička in 3rd.
