Protoform WCICS Rd5 – Report

The Protoform Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series round 5 flew into the Pacific island town of Victoria, British Columbia. With a huge turnout, and racers flying in from Quebec, New Mexico, North Dakota, California and Washington, this was an all-star affair. The Touring Modified class offered  some of the best racing WCICS has ever seen, with some of the world’s top racers battling it out, and a different winner of each AAA main. Xray’s JJ Wang would set a fast TQ over a top field, and would hold off Team Associated’s Keven Hebert and Xray’s Max Kuenning for the win in leg one.

Gubbio to host HotRace Summer Cup

Following the recent announcement of the Tonisport-supported HotRace Summer Cup the organisers have now published information of the hosting track. The fourth instalment of the popular race will take place in Gubbio and all information about the event are available here.

Hot Race Trophy Rome – Report

The Hot Race Trophy Rome was held at the Gianni Modellismo track in both electric and nitro classes. The 1-day race saw three qualifiers of which the best round counted. In Electric Touring Car Modified Alessio Menicucci took the pole position for the mains from Nicola Marrone and Simone D’Ottavio while the Touring 13.5T blinky class was lead by Valter Cola from Flavio Buzi and Djalma Bochicchio.

XRS Australia Rd1 – Report

Round one of the Xray Racing Series Australia was held at the revamped Sydney Model Autosports track. The surface was treated with sugar and the grip was perfect but as for the weather; mid to high 30 Degrees on both Saturday and Sunday was hard to deal with for man and machine. In the premier ISTC Modified class Awesomatix’s Jeffery Mackie would bring home the win from Ari Bakla (Xray) in second and Lionel Saunders (Yokomo) third.

British Winter Open – Report

This past weekend saw the annual British Winter Open event, a type of indoor national – this year hosted by the Maritime Raceway in Kent and run by the BRCA. The track was extremely fast but had a nice flow to it and average laps of 18s for 4WD and 19s for 2WD. The surface was very short pile blue Astro which had previously been surface utilised by the Silverstone club. The Saturday saw the 2WD class and odds on favourite for the event was TLR’s Ellis Stafford, former European champion and a regular at the Maritime venue. Qualifying was fast and furious with the TQ position to be decided in the fourth and final round – on the tight indoor track, passing places were limited so pole was highly sought. Coming down to the final few laps of the final qualifier, Ellis would put his local experience to use and just edge out Tom by a second to take TQ, with Schumacher’s Tom Yardy 2nd and Jack Neal in 3rd from Richard Barton and Charlie Ware who lined up 4th and 5th.

DJ Apolaro wins at Region 4 Championships Rd1

This past weekend was the first of four rounds for the Region 4 Championships held at the Arcadia track in Florida. DJ Apolaro (Capricorn) took the overall TQ of the 200mm class after sweeping each round of qualifying. In the main final, DJ continued to dominate, bringing home the win two laps ahead of second placed Junior Castellanos (Mugen) and third placed Jerry Guerra (Mugen).

Mike Gosvig wins at DRCMU Nationals Rd4

The fourth round of DRCMU Danish Nationals was held in Skanderborg on a purpose-built track laid out with grey ETS carpet and located in a sportshall. Xray’s Mike Gosvig would bring home the win from young Kevin Nielsen (Xray) and VBC Racing driver Frederik Broløs Mikkelsen.

CWIC Xray Racing Series UK Rd5 – Report

The recent fifth round of the CWIC Xray Racing Series UK saw ever increasing entries with some top names either making their debut or a return to the series. Olly Jefferies continued his dominance in the Super Touring class taking TQ and back to back final wins. from Alex Thurston (Serpent) and Chris Grainger (Team Associated).
