Tasos Paparegas wins Greek Off-road Nationals Rd4

Round four of the Greek Off-road National Championship was held at the Hobbytech track. Tasos Paparegas was the man to beat as he won all qualifiers to take the top qualifier position. In the main final he would smash the competition by taking home the win some two laps in front of runner-up, Makropoulos while also setting a new track record. Papanikolaou would round out the top 3 podium result.

Eric Anderson doubles at Southern VTA Nationals

The 2016 Southern VTA Nationals took place at Thunder RC in Nashville, Tennessee. The race has become a yearly event held shortly before the IIC and is used for a warm-up race by many. This year was no exception as the house was full of people and fast racers with over 110 entries for the several classes. Practice started on Friday morning with the pits full and lots of people getting track time on the new CRC FT2 black carpet. Everyone found out quickly that tire glue and aluminium chassis were needed in all classes. In Touring Car the fast guys were Michael Skeen, Matthew Lyons, Eric Anders and also a few other guys quickly got up to speed. In 1/12th scale 13.5 who showed fast laps from the start while in VTA Cody Armes and Myron Kinnard were up front as usual. In the USGT class Matt Lyons was the man to beat.

Once qualifying started the same guys were up front with Eric Anderson being able to TQ every round of Touring Car and 12th scale. Cody took the TQ in the VTA class and Matt Lyons was able to TQ the USGT class.

Northwest Carpet Off-road Invitational – Announcement

With the huge success from last year’s Northwest Astro Invitational, Casey Vitale of Northwest Hobbies and Kyosho America/Team Orion USA team manager Joe Pillars have brought the event back for 2016 – this time on carpet. The 2016 Northwest Carpet Off-Road Invitational will be held at the newly renovated Northwest Hobbies in Albany, Oregon on October 22nd to 23rd with the event already received sign-ups from the likes of AE’s Ryan Cavalieri, TLR’s Dustin Evans, and Kyosho’s Tanner Day to name just a few. The two day event will consist of four 5-minute qualifiers on Saturday and 5-minute triple A-main events on Sunday. Classes run are Invitational 2WD Mod, 2WD Mod, 4WD Mod, Pro Stock 17.5 non-boost, Stock 17.5T non-boost, Stock Truck 13.5T non-boost and Novice. To enter yourself in the 2WD Modified Invitational class, please email Joe Pillars (joepillars@hotmail.com). For all other classes, sign-ups will be available at the track on Friday of the event. Stephen Lander successful at BRCA Formula finale

Last weekend saw the final round of the BRCA Outdoor Formula National Championship at the open and flowing Halifax circuit. After a dry practice day on the Saturday, rain overnight ensured a slippery start to qualifying with drivers having to adapt their cars to the wet but drying conditions throughout the four qualifying rounds. With the already crowned Championship winner Luke Lee taking pole position it was the hard charging duo of Stephen Lander and James Wright that lined up second and third respectively.

Jitse Miedema wins at Dutch EP On-road Nats Rd6

The sixth and final round of the Dutch Electric On-road Championship held at the Raco2000 track in Utrecht not only saw the title decision in the Touring Stock class but also the running of the 1/10th Formula class. Following Saturday’s practice the triple qualifiers would be held on Sunday and they saw Jitse Miedema taking the TQ from Daan Schuuring and Martijn van der Heijden (all Xray). In the finals Jitse made a clean sweep to take the overall win from Martijn and Daan who swapped places compared to their qualifying results, having Martijn coming in second from third placed Daan.

Schumacher Indoor Masters Rd1 – Report

The first round of the Worksop Series took place this past weekend with a huge entry of 153 drivers across the two classes of Buggy 2WD and 4WD. There was huge demand to try and get a race entry for this event, one of the biggest race series currently in the UK. As always round by round qualifying was the racing format, with the best two results from four rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position. In 2WD Craig Collinson was trying to help his Championship get off to the best start by being on pole position for the A-final and he would come out fastest in the main too, taking the win from Richard Lowe and Greg Williams.

Round six of the Jimmy Babcock Racing League was held at Channel Islands R/C in Santa Barbara, California. The forthcoming IFMAR Worlds made for an illustrious entry field with drivers trying to put finishing touches on their worlds packages. In the Expert Buggy class Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri took the win from AE teammate, Spencer Rivkin while Japan’s Atsushi Hara (Kyosho) completed the podium result in third.

Boy Witsarut sweeps Malaysian National League Rd5

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia played host to round five of the Malaysia National League. Saturday was qualifying day, with five 10-minute long races on the schedule, drivers had to deal with a very dusty track under incredibly hot and humid weather conditions. In the Pro Buggy class Danny K would TQ three of the five rounds to take the overall TQ but it was 6-times national champion, David Lim who would start into the A-main from the pole position followed by Boy Witsarut and Danny K. In the 60-minute long Pro A-main, Boy then managed to lap the entire field on the 20-minute mark, finishing up three laps ahead of the second-place driver, Kenny Chin. Didier Perin would obtain the final podium spot with TQ, Danny K had to settle for a sixth place overall after an incident with a marshal that stopped his engine.
