Figueiredo wins Spanish Nationals finale

Tekno’s João Figueiredo continued his impressive 2024 season with victory at the season finale of the competitive Spanish 1:8 Buggy National Championships in Madrid.  Travelling to the Fuencarral circuit, home of the annual Buggyland race, the Portuguese National Champion was in the battle to become the Spanish Vice-Champion, victory in all three previous rounds meaning Sworkz Juan Carlos Canas had already secured the overall title.  In qualifying it was fellow Tekno driver Adrian Pariente who would secure the TQ ahead of Figueiredo but in the Semi’s it would be European B Champion David Todd who would win with the fastest time to put his Mugen Seiki on pole for the 45-minute final.  From third on the grid it wouldn’t take Figueiredo long to get to the front where he would stay to win by 11-seconds Jose Miguel Sanchez with Daniel Pariente completing the podium just ahead of Xray’s Bryan Baldo.  Joining Tekno at the start of the 2024 season and achieving his first World Championship final last month in Redovan, Spain, Figueiredo will now try to cap off his best season yet with a strong showing at the AMS Alabama Manufacturer Shootout in the US onNovember 7th-10th.

Phend retains Masters of Dirt title

BeachRC in South Carolina hosted the 10th annual Masters of Dirt where Team Losi Racing’s Dakotah Phend was crowned the overall Champion for his combined results in 2WD & 4WD Buggy and Stadium Truck.  In qualifying, 2WD Mod Buggy would see the Schumacher of Broc Champlin secured the TQ ahead of Phend and World Champion Tater Sontag.  With single 10 minute A-Mains, Champlin was able to covert pole into victory ahead of Phend and Aydin Horne.  In 2WD Mod Truck, it was Phend who topped qualifying ahead of Horne but it in the final the Associated driver would get the lead late on and secure the win.  While Champlin would also TQ 4WD Mod Buggy ahead of Reedy’s Dustin Evans, it was Phend from P4 on the grid who would take the win from Horne to retain the Masters of Dirt ‘Master’ title which he won last year.

Hagberg wins Masters of Foam

Former 1:12 World Champion Alexander Hagberg has won the annual Masters of Foam race in Belgium.  Establishing itself as one of the major races on the international 1:12 calendar, this year’s event saw Hagberg take his Xray to the overall TQ honours ahead of defending back to back Champion Ollie Payne.  While the British Schumacher driver topping the opening qualifier, Hagberg would set the pace in the remaining three rounds.  Hungarian Adam Izsay would complete the Top 3 on the Modified grid ahead of the fellow Xray driver Mathias Nedrebø from Norway.  Making the trip from the United States to the Miniatuur Racing Club Zwevegem track, MonTech NYGP organiser Donny Lia would qualify his Awesomatix 5th.  In the triple finals, Hagberg would win the opening two 8-minute encounters to secure the overall win reversing the 2023 results with Payne finishing 2nd.  Izsay completed the podium.  In the 13.5 Stock, Payne would defend his 2023 title.  Securing the TQ from Belgium’s Ollie Bultynck and Lia, Payne wrapped up the overall victory by winning the A1 & 2 with Izsay claiming 2nd overall as A3 winner Lia complete the podium ahead of team-mate Bultynck.

Coelho confirmed for SIGP International Offroad GP

Having attended & won the SIGP International RC Car Grand Prix onroad event earlier this year, Bruno Coelho is to return to the impressive 3-circle ARC International RC Racing Track in Xiamen, China, to race at the SIGP International Offroad GP.  The Xray driver, who was last week confirmed for December’s ISTC FEMCA Championships in Foshan, China, with go directly from the Electric Touring Car race at GDC Indoor Race Club to race 1:8 Buggy at the return of the SIGP Offroad following its forced break due to Covid.  One of Asia’s major international offroad events pre-Covid, and counting Germany’s Joern Neumann and American Ryan Lutz as past Champions, the SIGP International Offroad Grand Prix takes place from December 11-15 with  further international entries for the 2024 edition expected shortly.

Ohio State Oval Series – Announcement

A new and exciting RC oval series has been announced for the 2024 / 2025 Indoor carpet season with the inaugural running of the Ohio State Oval Series presented by Team Tekin.  The series will consist of 5 different races at 5 different tracks all located within the beautiful state of Ohio.  A series that will cater for everyone, the organisers are encouraging racers to, ‘Bring you wife, bring your kids, heck even bring the neighbours kid out to enjoy some of the greatest oval racing that ever hit the state of Ohio.’  They are also encouraging racers to bring out their Losi NASCARS and gain some experience on the track and from the pits.

2024 SIGP International Offroad GP – Registration

Sunpadow, the organisers of the SIGP International Offroad Grand Prix which makes a return to the international racing calendar this year, have announced that registration will open on November 1st at www.arc-chn.com .  Counting Germany’s Joern Neumann and American Ryan Lutz as past Champions, the SIGP International Offroad Grand Prix takes place at the 3-circle ARC International RC Racing Track in Xiamen, China, from December 11-15.  The same venue that hosted the 2017 IFMAR 1:10 Electric Offroad World Championships, the race schedule will be made up of 5 classes including racing for 1:4 offroad bikes. With the main action expected in 1:8 Nitro Buggy and 1:8 eBuggy, a number of international drivers are expected to be announced shortly to battle it out for some of the SIGP’s total prize money of almost $25,000.  Race enquiries can be directed to yifengl@3-circles.com .

MIBO International 2025 – Announcement

Counting Michal Orlowski, Ronald Volker, Bruno Coelho and Joern Nuemann among its previous winners, MIBO International returns for a third edition in 2025 with former international touring car racer Michal Bok confirming February 07-09 as the date for the Czech based event.  A long time dream of Bok to host his own major international event in Hrotovice, the indoor event finally came to fruition in 2023 bringing together both electric onroad and offroad racing on two tracks build side by side by the team from Mibosport.  The first edition of MIBO International saw the Mugen of Volker crowned the inaugural Touring Car Champion and Coelho’s Xrays take double buggy honours at the Sport V Hotel venue.  The 2024 edition would see Orlowski steer his Schumacher to the Touring Car victory while on the offroad track Neumann’s Sworkz took the 2WD honours and young Bartek Zalewski took 4WD from Xray team-mate Martin Bayer.  With everything from the track, restaurant, bowling alley and hotel rooms all under one roof, the venue is always a hit with racers.  With a capped entry limit the relaxed schedule also means plenty of time in the evening to wind down and socialise over dinner after each day’s racing.  Officially a two and a half day event, the event gets underway on Friday evening with practice to allow for travel Friday morning.  The full list of Onroad and Offroad Classes, plus the opening of registration, for the 2025 MIBO International will be announced shortly.

2024 Borneo 1:8 Buggy Championship – Report

The annual Borneo 1:8 Buggy Championship made a return following Covid with drivers from several regions in Indonesia descending on the Tungkaran Track on the island of Borneo.  With nitro and electric titles up for grabs, in Nitro it was the Mugen Seiki of recent Asian Buggy Championships Indonesia Finalist Arya BM who took the TQ and win.  He would be joined on the podium by the Kyosho of M. Feby with the Sworkz of Widjojo Hartato completing the Top 3.  In eBuggy, it was the Xray of Muhammad Hijrah Saputra who led the way securing the TQ before going on to claim victory ahead of the Kyosho of Muhammad Afwan and Mugen Seiki of Izzy.  With an encouraging 31 drivers in attendance, championship organisers SRCC and RCCB are excited at the prospects of putting on a larger 2025 Borneo Championship as the racing scene continues its comeback after the pandemic.
