Hobbywing Stock Spec Nationals – Announcement

PDX RC Underground has announced it will be hosting the inaugural Hobbywing Stock Spec Nationals.  The unique event will see all classes use handout Hobbywing Justock fixed timing motors.  The brainchild of this event, and the owner of PDX Underground Kevin Focht explains, “We started running 17.5 spec at the track, and I was thinking that there has never been a national event where everyone was running a handout motor. The thought of having everyone going the same speed intrigued me, and I thought it would be a true racers event. I immediately hit up Hobbywing, and they were excitedly on board!”  There will only be 4 classes for the event – 17.5 Buggy, 13.5 4wd Buggy, 13.5 Stadium Truck and 13.5 Short Course Truck.  All will be using handout Hobbywing Justock motors. Esc’s will be blinky and all other ROAR rules apply. Entries will be limited due to the hand out motors.  PDX RC Underground are excited to announce that 4 time World Champion Ryan Cavalieri will be attending and racing the event.

Yokomo confirm Krapp for inaugural MIBO International

Team Yokomo will be officially represented at the inaugural MIBO International Race in the Czech Republic with the news that their star touring car driver Christopher Krapp is to contest the exciting new international event on March 3-5th.  The 2022 ISTC World Championship runner-up, is no stranger to Hrotovice having travelled to the town to contested both Mibosport Cup and ETS races previously held at the popular Sport V Hotel venue.  Organised by former international Team Yokomo driver Michal Bok, there has already been a hugely positive reaction to the first MIBO International Race with over 100 entries received within the first 24 hours of registration opening.  With the demise of many of the ‘classic’ annual indoor Winter races that were once a staple of the annual racing calendar, Bok hopes the MIBO International Race can recreate that atmosphere & significance of these one off international events.  Like its predecessor, the Mibosport Cup, which was a series of races, the one off MIBO International Race weekend will feature two separate tracks to cater for both Onroad and Offroad racing action.

Freeman takes Mod win at RC Chili Bowl

Running alongside its full size oval racing counterpart, the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals, it was Zachary Freeman who came away with the SC Modified win at the ninth edition of the RC Chili Bowl held in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Attracting over 500 entries, the Scotty Ernst organised event is one of the biggest in the industry with its tented indoor pit area packed with manufacturers involved in the R/C oval racing scene.  Concluding the 2023 edition of the RC Chili Bowl was the final of SC Modified presented by HobbyWing.  All throughout qualifying it had been Zac Rose and Addison Krol, throwing down the heat for the ladies, going back and forth for the top spot with Rose edging out Krol to take the TQ honours.  It would be a super smooth start for the 10 car field with all drivers holding their starting positions for the opening laps.   A huge pile up in turn 4 however collected almost all the cars and would shake up the entire order creating a completely new race.  Third place qualifier Zachary Freeman would come out on top in the lead holding that position to the end with Krol finishing on the same lap fpr second.  Dropping back to sixth, Rose would recover to come through to complete the podium.
