João Figueiredo wins Portuguese Open

The 2019 Portuguese Open race was held at the Freixedas last weekend, attracting many of the country’s 1/8th off-road drivers. João Figueiredo was in control of things in the sole 1/8th Nitro Buggy class, taking the overall TQ over Carlos Duraes and also coming out on top in the 45-minute main final, taking the win in front of João André Rodrigues on the runner-up spot and Pedro Gomes in 3rd.

Nugroho wins the 2019 Batam Challenge

The 2019 Batam Challenge was held this past weekend at Banana RC Track in Batam island, Indonesia. Batam island is located about 60 minutes by ferry from Singapore and the race attracted drivers from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Jakarta, Medan, Banjarmasin, Padang, Pontianak as well as local drivers arrived. The race format consisted of 5 rounds of 10 minutes qualifications with the 3 best to count. After 5 qualification rounds Xray driver Jason Mugroho took the TQ honours and started from the pole position in the main final. With a good start Nugroho could maintain his lead during the 60 minute race and win from Adrian Wicaksono and John Agus.

Jason Nugroho wins 2019 Batam Challenge

The 2019 Batam Challenge was held at the Banana RC Track in Batam City, Indonesia last weekend. A total of 35 drivers from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Jakarta, Medan, Banjarmasin, Padang, Pontianak as well as local drivers attended the event that saw five rounds of 10-minutes qualifying with the three best to count. In the end it was Jason Nugroho (Xray/Novarossi) ho took the TQ honours and he also secured the win in the 60-minute main final, some five laps in front of Adrian Wicaksono (Mugen/O.S.) on the runner-up spot and John Agus (Kyosho/O.S.) in 3rd. Andre Supriyatna (Mugen/O.S.) and Rama Danindro (HB Racing/Novarossi) would round out the top 5 results.

Borja Gutarra wins at Catalonian GT Champs Rd2

The second round of the Catalonian GT Championship was held at the Santa Oliva club last weekend. In the Nitro GT category it was Borja Gutarra with the TQ from Alberto Ibanez on the runner-up spot. Alberto however would start into the 30-minute A-main event from pole and he would retain the lead until about the 22-minute mark when Borja Guterra took over the lead that he would onto until the checkered flag to bring home the win in front of Xavier De La Orden Muniz on the runner-up spot. Miguel Castro came in 3rd and in front of Alberto Ibanez who had to settle for 4th overall-

Marco Baruffolo wins at Buggy Winter Cup

The Italian NitroBuggy Genzone track played host to the Buggy Winter Cup last weekend. The event kicked off with practice on Friday with the drivers having to adapt to a somewhat difficult track due to its high traction. Come Sunday things had settled and in the end it was Xray’s Marco Baruffolo with the win in the Nitro Buggy class from Mugen’s Robert Batlle. Kyosho’s Riccardo Berton rounded out the top 3 podium result.

Elliott Boots signs with SWorkz

SWorkz have announced the signing of former long-time Kyosho driver, Elliott Boots. The former EFRA European Champion 1/8th Buggy Champion will campaign SWorkz’s 1/8th and 1/10th scale platforms and he has the following to say about the deal:

I am very excited to join the Sworkz team for 1:8 and 1:10. I am very thankful for this opportunity and excited for my first race with my new team. Also looking forward to making new friends and team mates.

Roberto De Cesare wins at Enneti Trophy

The Trofeo Enneti was held at the Club Automodellistico 5 Colli trac in Gubbio, Italy this past weekend. Run in 1/8th and 1/10th on-road classes the event attracted some of the country’s fastest on-road drivers and in 1/8th IC Track it was Dante Piersante with the overall TQ from Roberto De Cesare in 2nd. In the 30-minute main final Roberto was able to bring home the win some five seconds in front of Dante in 2nd as Gianmarco Di Febo completed the top 3 podium result some three laps down.

Chris Lovell takes Winter Series title

42 drivers attended the final round of the Winter Series at a windy Brookthorpe track with all three steps on the overall Winter Series able to change. Jon Howells (Team Associated) took the initiative and first round of qualifying. Chris Lovell (HB Racing) took the 2nd and 3rd with Jon taking the final round, giving Jon overall TQ on countback. Onto the A-final Jon rolled it on the first corner with Chris rolling at on the next corner. Throughout the race both drivers had challenges which ended up with them together on the last lap. Chris Lovell managed to hold on for the win, with Jon Howells 2nd and an excellent drive by Will Day to take his first A-final podium. The results meant that Chris Lovell (HB Racing) won the series, with Jon Howells (Team Associated) 2nd and Jake Knight (Tekno) 3rd. In the juniors Will Day (TLR) took top spot, with Rowan Ainsbury (JQRacing) 2nd and Jake Westwood (TLR) 3rd.
