2019 AWS Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the 2019 AWS was held at Deerdale with 64 attending the meeting. There was a mix of Nitro 8th Buggy, 8th Electric Buggy, mixed with Nitro, and 8th Nitro Truggy. Racing started at exactly 9am with a round of timed practice. Followed by the qualifiers that were held on a drying track that caused some traction rolling problems for the drivers. After the three rounds of qualifying Jon Howells took TQ in Truggy from Wez Jolly and Mark Morris while the Buggy class was lead by Graham Alsop taking the TQ in front of Mike Lewis and John Holmes. In fading light the Buggy A-main was the last final of the day. The 15-minutes race started just after 4pm and some driver scrambled to change tyres because of the slippy conditions. However in the end it was Graham Alsop (HB Racing) taking the win from Mick Butler (HB Racing) on the 2 spot. 3rd place was taken by another driver for HB Racing, John Holmes and 4th place was taken by Mike Lewis.

Cody King returns to RC racing

Kyosho America have announced the return of 2010 IFMAR 1/8th Nitro Buggy World Champion, Cody King to their team. Cody had to step away from racing for personal reasons earlier in 2018, following stints with HB Racing and Serpent. Along with Cody his dad Paul will be back in the pits and this is what Cody has to say about the deal:

I want to give a huge thank you to Kyosho for the opportunity to race for them again. As most people know, I had to step away from racing for a period of time, and now I’m ready and excited to get back to the track. For now I will just be racing locally, and take additional steps as it feels right. My focus is on keeping it fun, and getting back to competing again, I have missed it. Also, not only am I coming back, but my dad Paul also will be helping me in the pits again just like the old days. Can’t wait to see everyone at the races!
