Bakla & Stone win at NWS Pro-Line Challenge

The Australian ACT track recently played host to the NSW Pro-Line Challenge with the largest entry for the 2018 season. The event was held in several classes and using 10-minutes qualifiers and 45-minutes A-mains. Nitro Buggy was a 2-horse race, as Ari Bakla picked up TQ after winning all three Qualifiers, while local fast guy Shane Kelly had some super fast lap speed and was 2nd with Craig Laughton in 3rd. In the main Ari pulled a little gap but would be closed after the first pit stop, for the next 25 minutes Ari and Shane were never more than 2 to 3 seconds apart, switching the lead until Shane had a huge crash in one of the worst areas of the track for a marshal to get to. This gave Ari a large lead which he would protect and cross the line with the win from Shane Kelly 2nd and Craig Laughton 3rd.

The start then held some drama for Jason who flipped his buggy at the first corner which send him down to 18th. However due to a blistering pace he got back into the lead within ten minutes. CJ Jelin TQs & wins at Fall Brawl

The 2018 Fall Brawl was held at AMain’s Silver Dollar RC Raceway in Chico, California. The race had 77 entries and in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Xray’s CJ Jelin who took the overall TQ courtesy of winning Q2 and Q3. Before the A-main CJ had to sit down and readjust his buggy’s engine as he was loosing mileage through the day. As the main was mixed with E-buggies the organisers decided to go with nine minutes runtime. CJ had the lead for the first couple of minutes until he had went wide and Mason Eppley (Tekno) passed him. Now Mason was in 1st and CJ had pit that lap to, so there was a big gap. Mason crashed on one of the back jumps and CJ was back on him and he still had to pit. From that moment on CJ drove clean for the rest of the race to take the win in Pro Nitro Buggy with Mason Eppley 2nd and Xray’s Evan Carton 3rd.

Joe Kerry wins wet BRCA 200mm Nats Rd8

The 8th round of the BRCA 1/10th 200mm Nationals was held at the Cotswold track over the weekend. The weather was really bad, heavy rain for most of the weekend and even some flood warnings issued nearby. In qualifying Joe Kerry took a fairly comfortable TQ by around 5.5 seconds. Before the final the rain almost stopped and the track became very greasy and was super difficult to drive on. At the end of the race Joe was able to finish in 1st place a lap in front of John Zottl as Matthew Cook rounded out the top 3 another four laps down.

Thanks for Joe Kerry for the update.

Tom Robin wins French 1/8th Buggy finale

The TSAR track near Toulouse played host to last weekend’s final round of the French 1/8th Nitro Buggy Championship. The race for the overall TQ was a very entertaining one with three different top qualifiers in four rounds. Ultimately it was TLR’s Renaud Savoya with the overall and he would also start from pole position into the 45-minute A-main event. In the opening lap however Renaud made a mistake, leaving Team Associated’s Tom Robin as well as Xray’s Yannick and Jerome Aigoin battling for the lead. Savoya eventually recovered to take the top spot again only to run in mechanical issues in the later stages of the race that cost him a lap. From there he suffered with pace which allowed Tom Robin to take the lead in the closing stages and to take the win from Jerome and Yannick. Renaud ended the race on the 4 spot which was enough for him to take the overall championship title.
