Israeli Nitro Buggy Championship Rd8 – Report

The 1/8th Nitro Buggy season in Israel has come to an end with the recent round 8 of the championship. Held at the Negev Speed Racing track it was a super hot affair with temperatures reaching up to 34 degrees Celsius. After the four qualifying rounds Yaniv Sivan took the TQ honours and he also got the hole shot at the start of the A-main. Yaniv was closely followed by Aviv Maymon in 2nd and when Sivan made a small mistake it promoted Maymon into the lead. What followed was a forth and back for several times until Aviv suffered a flameout which cost him a position that was taken by Or Balulu who in turn also suffered engine issues. This promoted Tal Siles to 2nd and Dvir Hirak to 3rd. From there the top 3 positions remains the same until the checkered flag. As Ofir Avitan had checked out in the championship the race for the runner-up spot was on between Tal Siles and Yaniv Sivan. Going into the final round Yaniv had a 2-points lead and with the 2nd place finish at round 8 he cemented the vice-championship from Tal Siles 3rd.

The final round of the North German IC Track Championship took place at the MC Munster track located between Hamburg and Hanover. After the qualification Lars Hoppe took the TQ spot in the 1/8th class while Rico Kröber dominated the 1/10th 200mm qualification at will. The final of the 1/8th class was a thrilling one. At the start Timo Schröder could pass Lars but after a small mistake Lars took over the lead again, but Timo did not give up and kept up the pressure. After two quick refuelling stops Lars was able to pull away a good four seconds but after an accident with a back marker, Lars had to slow down which unfortunately caused his engine to stop. Timo, who made a tyre change, was right back on the heels of Lars and each of the spectators was waiting for the showdown of the two. Unfortunately, another engine stall from Lars saw Timo Schröder winning the race some two laps ahead of Lars in 2nd and Benny Ciere in 3rd position. EFRA Large Scale Off-road Euros – Report

This past week three European Championships were up for grabs in Austria in the Large Scale 1/6th 4WD, 2WD and Short Course classes. The 4WD final produced 30 minutes of the highest quality racing, with never more than a couple of seconds between the leaders and the lead changing on multiple occasions. Pekko Iivonen led from the pole but was soon in a monumental scrap with reigning European champions Dario Veseli of Croatia and TQ man Sven Rodenwald from Germany. With all three teammates in the MCD equipe, there was a desire from all three to keep the racing as fair as possible. The first turning point cam at about half way when a couple of mistakes dropped Sven out of contention, leaving Pekko and Dario to dice for the win. With fastest laps being traded and the lead regularly swopping the second key element of the final became apparent as one of Iivonen’s front tyres begun to become unglued. Now just missing the ultimate pace the Finnish youngster could not stay with Veseli who claimed his third successive 4WD European title.
