Kyle Branson wins at British Open GP

Round 4 of the BRCA IC Track National Championship was held at the Brookline track and was held as the British Open GP together with the 1/10th 200mm GP class. The latter saw Alex Thurston taking the overall TQ honours after winning Q1 and Q2. In the final Alex had a clean start with him, Kyle Branson and Mark Green having a great race up front until a marshall put a back marker back on the track just before the straight meaning that Alex would come along and smash into him flat out. The crash crushed his car’s body, broke his bumper and damaged a front shock and the following pitstop meant that he was out of the equation for the win. Alex lost a good amount of laps, however with a borrowed shock from a retired teammate he was able to at least score a 3rd place finish to snatch valuable points as Mark Green came in 2nd and Kyle Branson took the win.

Jiri Mara TQs & wins at Czech Open Rd4

The fourth round of the Czech Open series took place last weekend in Mlada Boleslav. Jiri Mara (SWorkz) and Kaja Novotny (Xray) traded TQs in the Nitro Buggy qualifying and in the end it was Jiri who won the final qualifier by a few tenths of a second for the overall TQ. In the main final it was again Jiri on top of the field while Kaja had problems to follow, mainly because of damages his buggy suffered from after a centre driveshaft pin came loose in his semi final. A quick repair allowed him to take part in the final, starting from P3, however Kaja wasn’t able to push his buggy but after a somewhat chaotic final, he was still able to finish on the runner-up spot and in front of Jiri Benes.

Maifield, Tessmann & Cavalieri win at Manufacturers Cup

The Amain Hobbies Manufacturers Cup was hosted by Silver Dollar Raceway in Chico, California over the weekend with some of the fastest U.S. racers making their entry to race in the usual array of 1/8th off-road classes. The Manufacturers Cup is always an exciting race that carries a different format much similar to the Reedy Race of Champions, where the Pro drivers compete in a series of heads-up racing and awarded points after finishing results for each round. The lowest point total taken from 3 of the 4 rounds decides the overall finishing order making each round an all-out race rather. Ryan Maifield was on another level in the Pro Nitro Buggy class as he delivered a perfect performance going 4 for 4 to win all rounds and took the overall without question. The Mugen ace was on top of the tire program selecting the right tire at the right time and got good starts to work his way up to the front. Once in the lead, Maifield put it in overdrive and secured his flawless weekend in Nitro Buggy with some amazing driving. Xray’s Ty Tessman secured 2 wins and locked up 2nd as Kyosho’s Jared Tebo finished on the podium in 3rd.
