Tim Wood crowned BRCA 1/8th IC Track Champion

The final round of the British IC Track Championship took place at the Cotswold circuit in central UK. Saturday Morning was damp, so cars hit the circuit for practice in the afternoon only. Noticeable quick cars were Green, Wood, Spashett, and Hastings. Sunday saw a fully dry track from the start. Four rounds of qualifying saw Mark Green take a superb TQ, but the title contenders lined up 2nd Spashett and 4th Wood. The start of the A-final saw a Green get away swiftly, with the title protagonists battling hard for 2nd. A close exciting race saw Wood’s Serpent hounding Spashett’s ARC and at the second round of pit stops, Tim’s mechanic Nicola performed the undercut – with a pitstop one lap early. This allowed Tim to squeeze past Dave into an exciting turn 1. After 30 minutes, the race result was declared as 1st Tim Wood, winning the 2017 British Championship from runner-up, Dave Spashett.

Last weekend the last final round of the Austrian 1/10th 200mm Championship was held at the SFMAV track in Nußdorf. Despite the good weather forecast, on Saturday afternoon the track was still partly wet from overnight rain. The conditions made it very difficult to get a faultless run in and it was Gerhard Kandelhart who excelled in these conditions as he took all four qualifiers on home soil. Leonardo Varga secured the P2 spot for the final in front of Franz Engel, both having their problems with the track conditions.

Cody King announced HB Racing split & RC retirement

2010 IFMAR 1/8th Nitro Buggy World Champion, Cody King has announced his spilt from HB Racing and his retirement from RC racing. Rumours about his move circulated already last week with the question about his racing future now pushing him to officially announce his, possibly temporary, move away from the world’s RC tracks. In a statement on social media Cody says:

Hello all. I have had a few questions about my sponsorship arrangement with HB. I would like to announce I have parted ways with HB effective immediately. I have nothing but good things to say about HB and the opportunities they gave me, and I’m sorry it didn’t work out. This is a difficult time for me, and unfortunately I have to step away from RC for a while for personal reasons. I can’t say for sure what the future holds in RC for me going forward, but I hope you will respect my privacy while I take time to make decisions. Thanks for understanding, and perhaps I will be back out at the track before too long.
