Carlos Duraes wins at Portuguese Buggy Nats Rd4

The fourth round of the Portuguese Buggy nationals was held at the Freixedas track, home of the 2018 Euros, this past weekend. Serpent’s Carlos Duraes took the TQ and win in the Nitro Buggy class some two laps in front of Joao Figueiredo (Kyosho) 2nd and Goncalo Melo (TLR) 3rd. The final round of the championship will be held next month with the event will also see who’s crowned the 2017 national champion.

Jason Nugroho wins Indonesia Buggy Championship Rd5

The fifth and final round of the 2017 Indonesia National Buggy Championship was held at the Cnetic RC Track in Surabaya, East Java this past weekend. A total of 63 drivers attended this event that was held in nice and hot weather conditions. The race format were six rounds of 10-minutes qualifying with the four best rounds to count. Jason Nugroho (Xray/Novarossi) took the TQ honours after the qualifiers and he also came out fastest in the main final from Adrian Sutanto (Kyosho/O.S.) and Hariadi Lie (Kyosho/O.S.) in 3rd place.

Davide Ongaro crowned double Italian champion

The final round of the Italian AMSCI 1/8th Off-road National Championship was held this past weekend and it was Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro who walked away with the titles in the Nitro Buggy and E-Buggy classes. Davide would start behind Marco Baruffolo (TLR) in the Nitro A-main but he found a way past in the opening stages and never looked back. Even when rain started to some 15 minutes before the end Davide kept his cool and he would bring home a maiden Nitro national title. Elsewhere in the E-Buggy class Davide would take wins in the opening two A-mains to seal his third national E-Buggy title early.

24h Nitro Buggy Race Austria – Report

The annual 24h Nitro Buggy Race was held at the huge and challenging track of the WMW Fehring club. 14 teams from Austria and Germany attended the race with each team consisting of up to six drivers and only a single car. With a perfect pit strategy and scheduled maintenance stops, replacing only a single driveshaft and a bent shock shaft following a crash as well as an engine due to a broken clutch bearing, Team Hoeco took the win with 1964 or nearly 700km from Team Losi Austria (1912 laps) in 2nd and Team Xray Austria (1856 laps) in 3rd.

IFMAR 1/8th Nitro Onroad World Champs 2017 – Preview

The 1/8th Nitro Onroad World Championships has a certain special feel to it. As the oldest class in RC racing, the ‘formula one’ of our sport is a highly competitive class and the coveted title will be awarded for the twenty first time next week. After a slight lull in nitro on-road racing, the last few years have featured some exciting and close competition, with an interesting mix of drivers and manufacturers really bringing the class to life once again. I’ve had the opportunity to watch most of the teams throughout the last couple of years from my enviable position of overseeing the ENS championship, and that’s the experience I’ve drawn on to review the contenders and challengers for this year’s World title.

Sun Young Hwang FX-powered for 2017 and bejond

FX Engines have announced the signing of multiple Korean national champion Sun Young Hwang to their team. Sun Young will power his Xray ride using FX’s range of nitro engines at events throughout Korea and also at major races in Thailand, the Philippines and China. Sun Young says:

I am very happy and thankful to be a FX Engine Factory Driver. I believe this engine will continuously evolve into a really good engine. I will do my best effort so that many 1:8 off-road users in Korea can produce the best performance with FX engine. Many thanks to FX and Team James Racing for giving me such a good opportunity.

Sun Young Hwang teams up with Xray

Xray have announced the signing of Korean Nitro Off-road frontrunner, Sun Young Hwang to their team. Multiple national champion since 2005 Hwang also achieved 1st place finishes at events such as the 2017 O.S. Engines Challenge and the DCRC Challenge and he has the following to say about the deal:

I think it is my greatest honor in my life to be an Xray Factory driver. I will do my best to honor the brand and performance with Xray vehicle in Korea. I would like thank to Team James Racing (James Park) and Xray staff. I hope this would be a good example for the next-generation drivers.

Xray Racing Series Greek Rd6 – Report

Round 6 of the Xray Racing Series Greek was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in hot weather conditions. Again a good amount of sign-ups, despite the perfect beach party weather, made for close racing and in the Modified Touring class it was Papachristos with the TQ and win in all finals. A surprise 2nd place went to Nikolakopoulos with Diamadis in 3rd, making it an all-Xray podium.
