Jiri Mara takes Czech Open finale

The ninth and final round of the Czech Open series was held in Kolin after heavy rain fall made the scheduled Radotin track unusable. Jiri Mara took the TQ in the muddy conditions from Kaja Novotny and Max Gotzl. In the main final both Jiri and Kaja quickly got away from the field and they both battled for the lead but a couple of errors from Kaja meant he had to led Jiri pull away, settling for second in front of teammate Max Gotzl.

BRCA 1/8th Circuit Nationals Rd9 – Report

With the racing season drawing to a close, the BRCA 1/8th Circuit section headed to the northern venue of Wombwell Model Car Club, with rain forecast on the Sunday. Saturday practice stayed dry with Tim Wood, Andy Hastings and Neal King looking very quick. Come Sunday all the dry practice would be irrelevant as the rain arrived, very few drivers went out to set times in the early rounds of qualifying, it wasn’t until round four when the track was starting to dry that all drivers went onto circuit to set their best times.

ROAR announce 2017 calendar dates & tracks

ROAR announce 2017 calendar dates & tracks

ROAR have announced the dates and tracks for their National Championships for 2017. 360 V2 of New Rochelle, NY will play host to the Carpet Nationals from the 9th to 12th of March. The 1/8th Fuel Off-Road Nationals will be run from the 22nd to the 25th of June at the Stateline RC Raceway in Fremont, IN, while the 1/8th Electric Off-Road Nationals will be held at the Silver Dollar Raceway from July 20th through to the 23rd. The Track in Gaithersburg, MD will play host to the 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals from August 10th to 13th while the Nitro Paved On-road Nationals will be held at MRO in Lincoln, NE from September 28th to October 1st. Last but not least come the Electric Paved On-road Nationals from August 31st to September 3rd at Ncontrol in Dale, TX.

Michal Abrahamek takes Czech National 200mm title

The Czech 1/10th 200mm Nitro On-road Championship recently concluded with the fifth and final round. With three wins out of the five events it was Xray’s Michal Abrahamek to take the overall championship from Xray teammate Jiri Kral. KM Racing driver Michal Jansa would round out the overall top 3 result.

Dutch 1/8th On-road Championships Rd6 – Report

The sixth and final round of the Dutch 1/8th On-road Championship was held this past weekend at the RACO 2000 track in Utrecht. The weather forecast for Sunday was o.k. but Saturday’s practice was mostly washed away due to rain. With the NK and Nomac class titles pretty much decided the number of entries was a bit lower this time. In the NK class the 30-minute finale was won by Shepherd driver Arie Manten with 121 laps from Frank Baggen (ARC/120 laps) in second and Benny Ciere (ARC/119 laps) in third. In the Nomac class ARC’s Robbin Hertong came out fastest with 118 laps from Andy Muijres (ARC/111 laps) and Addie van de Ven (Serpent/110) in second and third respectively.

Miguel Matias crowned 2016 Portuguese Buggy champ

The final round of the Portuguese 1/8th Nitro Buggy national championship was held this past weekend. Unfortunately the 45-minute main final would be held in wet and muddy conditions and it was Miguel Matias who made the best out of the situation by taking he win some two laps in front of Goncalo de Melo while Carlos Duraes completed the podium in third. With the win Miguel snatched a 14th national title in his career.

Serpent GT Cup Rd5 – Report

The popular Serpent GT Cup series saw the running of round five this past weekend. As the racers get more and more used to the control class equipment, the lap times are getting faster every time and racing is getting even more exciting with the top racers being very close together in terms lap times and performance. In the ever growing Cobra GT Modified class, round five saw a new TQ holder. Hui China Ho was able to secure the top spot in front of series points leader Nelson Woo. With the fastest lap time only 0.1s apart, Hui managed to hold off a strong charge from Nelson, eventually winning the 40-minutes A-main while Nelson Woo had to settle for second. After qualifying sixth overall, veteran racer Quai Lo had a very strong race to finish third and to take the final podium spot.

Han Young & Sun Young win at Team James Racing Cup

The IP-Chang racing circuit in Korea recently held round 14 of the Team James Racing Cup. Despite rainy weather about 60 drivers signed in for the event that saw Jeon Han Young (Serpent) taking the win in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class from Hwang Sun Young (Xray) who was in the mix for the win but a broken rear wing cost him a better result. In third Ryan Lee (Mugen) completed the podium result. The 1/8th E-Buggy class had Hwang Sun Young (Xray) coming out fastest from Ryan Lee (Mugen) in second and Kim Ki Suk (Xray) in third.
