Maxim Laverychev crowned Russian 1/8th Buggy Champ

The 2016 Russian Nitro Off-road Championships were held in Russia’s “Northern Capitol” of Saint Petersburg. The race was hosted by the RC Orda track that featured a new layout for the event and it attracted the country’s fastest 1/8th off-road drivers. At the end of the A-main it was Xray’s Maxim Laverychev who took the win from TLR driver Stanislav Glebov and Team Associated pilot Dmitry Gribov in second and third respectively.

Karel Hajek wins at Senior Race Rd5

Round five of the Czech Senior Race was held in Horni Jeleni. Karel Hajek (Kyosho) was the man to beat with Otto Götzl (Xray) trying the best he could to follow but despite winning the opening round he had to settle for second after the qualifiers. In the main final Karel continued to dominate and he would bring home the win from Mira Fedeles (Mugen) while Otto Götzl took the final podium spot, coming from the 11 spot on the grid following issues in his semifinal.

Dutch 1/10th 200mm Nationals Rd4 – Report

Round four of the Dutch 1/10th scale Nitro On-road Nationals was held at the Real 80 club in Groningen in the north of the country. The long travel and the bumpy nature of the track makes it a love-hate affair for many drivers but the good weather on Saturday made for good racing conditions and everyone was looking forward to a nice weekend of racing. In the National class it was Daan Jacobs (Serpent) who took TQ followed by Roy Bakker (Sheperd) in second, and John Weytboer (Serpent) in third. In the Nomac category it was Mark Been (Kyosho) on the top followed by Jos Remmerde (Kyosho), Hans Westerveld (Kyosho), and Jan Timmer (Kyosho).

Shin Adachi confirmed for Dragon Stone Champs

Adding to the growing talent pool of the 2016 Dragon Stone Asian Buggy Championships, the event’s organisers have announced the confirmation of one of the industry’s most notable and experienced racers, Team Serpent’s Shin Adachi. With Shin’s massive experience in 1/10th scale electric vehicles as multiple time Japanese National champion, Shin is also lead designer and team manager of Team Yokomo’s offroad division. In addition, Shin also plays a crucial part in Team Serpent’s 1/8th nitro development program. On top of his 1/10th scale accomplishments, Shin has made numerous appearances in Japan’s Nationals finals, a NeoBuggy finalist, and current 2016 FEMCA Vice Champion in 1/8th scale. Having Shin on hand will be great addition as he will be able to apply his experience and expertise to help all Team Serpent customers as well as demonstrating his 1/8th nitro prowess on track.

Giovanni Verbrugghe crowned 1/5th Touring Euro Champ

The 2016 EFRA 1/5th scale European Championships were held in Bologna, Italy last week and in the 30-minute main final it was Belgium’s Giovanni Verbrugghe who walked away with the win. Verbrugghe snatched the runner-up spot from Ales Bayer, who suffered from changing weather conditions, while Italy’s Lamberto Collari controlled the pace on the front end of the pack. Pole position holder Patrick Folman was out of the title race following several off-track experiences and another prominent victim of unplanned off-road excursions was leader Lamberto who spun out in the closing stages of the final, promoting Giovanni Verbrugghe into the lead that he would hold onto until the checkered flag to take the 2016 European Championship title from Lamberto Collari while Patrick Folman was able to recover to third overall.

BRCA 1/10th IC Nationals Rd6 – Report

Round 6 of the BRCA 1/10th IC Nationals was held last weekend at the Cotswold track situated on Kemble Airfield. Although the sun was out in force on Saturday, Sunday was to be a more overcast affair and a total of 42 drivers took part in the three classes of 1/10th 200mm, 1/10th Sports GT and 1/8th GT. In the 200mm class, Joe Kerry would take the TQ by almost breaking the track record. Mark Green and Alex Thurston would qualify second and third with Kai Grainger and Matthew Cook completing the top half of the grid.

Riccardo Berton successful at Novarossi Trophy

The 2016 Novarossi Trophy was held at the pista Ospy Team di Gussago track in Gussago, Brescia over the weekend with some of the fastest Italian Nitro Off-road drivers in attendance. Kyosho’s Riccardo Berton was in control of things all weekend, taking the TQ and win in the Expert Buggy class from Mugen’s Davide Ongaro. Newly crowned 1/8th European Champion, Elliott Boots (Kyosh0) had to settle for third in the 45-minute A-main. Mattia Polito and Marco Natale would round out the top 5 result.

Thilo Tödtmann wins at Central German regionals

A round of the Central German Nitro On-road regionals, the qualifying series for the German Nationals, was held this past weekend at the MC Ettlingen track. In the 1/10th 200mm class Shepherd’s Dirk Wischnewski would take a close TQ from Capricorn driver Thilo Tödtmann while Rene Püpke (Shepherd) completed the top 3 result after the qualifiers. The main final then saw a close fight between Dirk and Thilo with the better end for Thilo as Dirk had to pull out of the race some 5 minutes before the end. Up front Thilo brought home the win some two laps in front of Shepherd’s own Patrick Schäfer while Jannick Namyslo (Xray) rounded out the top 3 result.
