Georgiadis doubles at Greek Fanatix Race

The Fanatix Race was recently held at the Fanatix racing track in Greece. The event saw 1/10th Touring Modified, Touring Stock, Formula and Nitro Stock racing and in the Touring Modified class it was the Xray duo of Georgiadis and Papachristos who battled for the overall TQ with the better end for Georgiadis who would ultimately grab the pole position for the finals. Papachristos had to settle for second while Yokomo driver Amaxas rounded out the qualifying top 3.

Leo Arnold wins at French 1/8th On-road Nats Rd4

Round four of the French 1/8th Nitro On-road Nationals was held in La Ferriere in Western France. The narrow track in combination with a fast yet technical layout made for challenging conditions and in the qualifiers it was Anthony Abisset who came out on top from Arnaud Mathieu, local driver Benjamin Brasset and Leo Arnold. In the semis, Leo took the win in the semi B while Anthony Abisset won the semi A, with the faster time handing Leo the pole position for the main final.

Sebastian Beltran wins Colombia Nationals Rd1

The first race of the Colombia National Off-road championship was held at the Bima racing track in Bogota. Sebastian Beltran (Xray/FX) took the TQ after the four rounds of qualifying only to suffer issues in the opening stages of the 30-minute A-main. Being almost four laps down Sebastian soon started to recover and in the closing stages, he was able to regain the lead to win the race while also setting a new track record. Yovanny Vergara (Xray/FX) and Pablo Mojica (Xray/FX) rounded out the podium in second and third respectively.

2016 Midwest Series Rd3 – Report

The One Eighth Scale Racers club hosted round 3 of the 2016 Midwest Series at their Toledo Ohio track. This six race series is thought to be the longest running series in the United States, having been organized back in the summer of 1970. Seventy drivers traveled to compete in the event and the racing action was exciting every class. This series features both 1/10 Sedan and 1/8 Open 4WD classes as well as Masters classes for both scales. The cars are run together by scale but scored separately by class.

Serpent GT Cup Rd3 – Report

Last weekend, the third round of the Serpent GT Cup was held at Hong Kong’s TRC race track. Due to the growing popularity of the event, the organisers had no choice but to use 15-car groups for the six heats in order to make sure the 1-day event could follow a sensible time schedule. Again the Cobra GP RTR class was the most popular with four heats with the Open class attracting a total of 30 drivers – again more compared to the previous round.

8th annual Timezone Grand Prix – Report

After a glorious racing weekend, the Timezone Grand Prix is quickly becoming America’s favourite on-road race of the year. The 8th annual TZGP was in high demand as it was sold out months prior to the race date reaching maximum capacity at 150 entries. Arguably, the best track and race event to ever be held in a backyard, space is definitely limited to those who register and plan in advance. Making this event more accessible for travellers near and far, onsite camping and RV hookup as well as the world famous St Cyr BBQ definitely enhances the experience making this race more like a family reunion with awesome racing as a bonus. While some call it the “Woodstock of RC” and others call it “RC’s best kept secret”, without a doubt there is something truly special about the Timezone Grand Prix.

Mara & Götzl successful at Czech Open Rd6

Round six of the Czech Open series was held at the Horni Jeleni track this past weekend. Jiri Mara (Serpent) grabbed the pole position for the Nitro Buggy main final with Max Götzl (Xray) on the 2 spot on the grid. Right from the start of the main both were in a close battle for the top spot but in the second half Max started to make some mistakes, allowing Jiri to stretch the lead and to bring home the win in front of Max while Tomas Kapicka (Kyosho) completed the top 3 result. With the second place Max Götzel would take the win in the Junior ranking from Fanda Kalenda and Milan Mudra (both Xray).

Reno Savoya confirmed for Dragon Stone Champs

Having already confirmed, TLR’s Ryan Maifield, he will be joined by his newest teammate Reno Savoya at the inaugural 2016 Dragon Stone Asian Nitro Buggy Championship race in Liaoyang City, China. Reno’s long list of incredible accomplishments includes being a 2-time Worlds finalist, 3-times French National Champion, and 3 times European Champion. With his race experience and world class speed, Reno adds his name to the growing list of international talent to the event.
