Ongaro TQ's 2nd Euros qualifier

Young Italian talent Davide Ongaro has TQ’d the second round of qualifying at the 1:8 Offroad Euros.  After a disappointing opening qualifier, the Mugen driver put in an impressive run setting a new fastest time around the Redovan RC track to top the times ahead of Q1 pace setter Elliott Boots.  Running in the same heat as Boots, Ongaro would improve on his own pace a massive 11-seconds ending up 8/10th quicker than the reigning champion. Behind them Robert Batlle would post the third fastest time with an almost identical time to his Q1 pace with Davide Ronnefalk again completing the Top 4 in Spain.

Swiss Racing Cup Rd5 & Rd6 – Report

Round five and round six of the Swiss Racing Cup were recently held at the Sitterdorf track. In the 1/10th 200mm class, Patrick Fankhauser (Xray) qualified on the 4 spot during Saturday’s round five, but winning the semifinals allowed him to grab the pole position for the A-main that then saw Patrick being under pressure of TQ holder Philipp Buehler (Xray). Positions swapped due to a small mistake by Patrick but swift refuelling by his dad got him back into the lead that he would hold onto until the end to take the day’s win from Philipp Buehler with Michael Schäfer (Xray) completing the top 3 result.

BRCA 1/8 Circuit Nationals Rd5 – Report

BRCA 1/8 Circuit Nationals Rd5 – Report

The fifth round of the BRCA National series took place last weekend at the Cotswold Model Car Club, returning to this track for the second time this season. For the first time in quite some time the weather at Cotswold was to remain warm and dry for the weekend ahead. During Saturday’s practice the grip was quite low in the morning with some drivers struggling to get a reference point for setup, but the track came good by around midday and allowed the drivers to start working on their car setup. Mark Green was setting the pace with the usual pack of drivers closely edging towards his pace. Sunday morning headed into the qualifying which was dry and most drivers managed to get good clean runs in every round. After four rounds of qualifying the Nitro A-final saw Mark Green taking the pole position from Tim Wood and Andy Hastings.

Boots takes opening qualifier in Spain

Boots takes opening qualifier in Spain

Elliott Boots has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying at the 1:8 Offroad European Championships in Redovan, Spain. The reigning champion was fastest over the first of the five 5-minute qualifiers from fellow British driver Darren Bloomfield, the former champion just under a second off the Kyosho driver. Turning out to be an all Champions affair at the top of the time sheets, former back to back champion David Ronnefalk would post the third fastest time followed by former double champion Robert Batlle. Having topped seeding yesterday Daniel Bernabe would struggle in the opening qualifier with a combination of running on new tyres that left him with an aggressive car and not getting the set-up on his SOAR correct for today’s cooler overcast conditions. The Spaniard would also have a 4-second mistake on his last lap. This left João Figueiredo to be the surprise of Q1 with last year’s Euro B Top Qualifier getting a P5 ahead of Neil Cragg who completed the Top 6.

Carlos Manuel wins at Portuguese IC Track Nats Rd4

Carlos Manuel wins at Portuguese IC Track Nats Rd4

Round four of the Portuguese Nitro On-road Nationals was held at the Pista das Travessas in Sao Joao da Madeira. Carlos Manuel would take the TQ after troublefull qualifiers with the Superpole being won by young Tomas Andrade. With track temperatures reaching 60 degree Celsius tyre wear was very high and a new set of tyres only lasted about 15 minutes. The main final was then dominated by tyre tactics and it was the pole setter who made the best out of the conditions, setting flying laps in the first 15 minutes to get enough margin on the second placed driver to change all four tyres. At the end Carlos would bring home the win three laps ahead of runner-up, Hugo Mendes with Tomas Andrade rounding out the top 3 result.
