Darren Bloomfield wins at BRCA Nitro Buggy Nats Rd4

Round four of the BRCA 1/8th Nitro Buggy Nationals was held in Pembrey, Wales over the weekend. The track was pretty tight with an oiled surfaces which would hold up well albeit for some holes that appeared. The 45-minute A-main was won by Agama’s Darren Bloomfield from Mugen driver Lee Martin and Milan Dragojlovic (Kyosho) in second and third respectively. Jack Embling and Simon Willetts completed the top 5 result.

John Knight wins 1st Istanbul GT Night Race

Istanbul in Turkey played host to the country’s first GT Night Race for 1/8th GT cars. Held to gather interest for a possible new class next season the race was run from 7:30 pm until midnight, attracting not only many racers but also surrounding locals who followed the racing action cheering and clapping. Racing was close with John Knight and Tom How making it out for the overall TQ with John holding the upper hand and after the finals it was again John who came out fastest in the triple 5-minute runs. Tom How ended the event in second place from Mert Köroğlu in third. With the positive reception of the race the organisers now plan a series possibly starting as early as September.

BRCA 1/8 Circuit National Rd 6 – Report

The fourth round of the BRCA National series took place last weekend at the Wombwell Model Car Club, a circuit which the national championship visits twice this year, a challenging track with a very technical infield and long straight away. Saturday practice was topped by Tim Wood setting the pace, with Mark Green absent on the Saturday, it looked as if Tim would have the advantage. Heading into Sunday it appeared luck would not be on Wood’s side as Mark Green shot straight to the top of the qualifying without any practice run on either Saturday or Sunday.

Nicolas Bregante TQs & wins Speed Paradise race

The Argentinian Speed Paradise race was recently held at the venue of the 2012 IFMAR World Championships and the opening round of the Metropolitan Championship attracted a good amount of drivers that divided into the four classes of Buggy Pro, Buggy Master, Buggy Open and Truggy Master. In the Buggy Pro class it was Nicolas Bregante to take the TQ and win from Sebastian Recio and Lucas Pons. Buggy Master had Matias Lence coming out fastest in the 30 minute final from Damian Li Fraine and Diego Baigorri while in Buggy Open it was Juanba Calens to take the day’s win from Gonzalo Bat and Maxi Lence. Finally in Truggy Master it was Matias Diaz who took the winning honours while Dante Covino and Adrian De Luca had to settle for second and third.

Max Götzl wins at Czech Open Race

The Open Race was recently held in Trutnov, Czech Republic and it was Xray’s Max Götzl to set the pace right from the start. Max would TQ three qualifying rounds on a drying track to take the overall TQ while for the finals, rain came up again but this did not stop young Max from taking wins in the first and second final to grab the overall victory from Petr Tomasek (Mugen) in second and Marek Strihavka (Team Associated) in third.

Malaysia National League Rd4 – Report

Round four of the Malaysia National League was held in Kulim State, Northern Malaysia with about 60 entries for the Pro and Semi-Pro 1/8th Nitro Buggy classes. In the Pro Buggy A-main event, Kelvin Yong (Xray) would take the win from Danny Kato (Tekno) and Danny Teh (Tekno). The Kyosho duo of BH Gan and Loon Lee rounded out the top 5 result.

BRCA British Open GP – Announcement

The BRCA have announced the 2nd annual running of the British Open GP. This year the premier event will take place at the Halifax circuit in West Yorkshire over the weekend of the 27th and 28th of August. Making its debut last year at the Cotswold circuit, this year the entry will be boosted by the addition of 1/8th electric and 1/8th GT classes which will run alongside 1/8th IC, 1/10th 200mm and 1/10th Sports GT. 2015 Champions Alex Thurston and Andrew North have already confirmed that they will battle to defend their titles. The meeting will feature organised practice and qualifying along with bump up finals using the same format as the highly popular ENS series. The event is open to any BRCA license holder and registration is available here.

Vrielijnck & Kruse win at Dutch IC Track Nats Rd3

For round three of the Dutch 1/8th Nitro On-road Nationals Championships the drivers gathered at the famous Model Race Genk track in Belgium. Different from the previous round the weather was on the dry side of things apart from a few drops of rain on Sunday. Genk is known for its tricky traction conditions due to the near motocross track blowing dust on the asphalt surface but the club did its best to clean the track as good as possible. Racing-wise the premier NK class saw Rick Vrielijnck walking away in the A-final one lap ahead of Jeffery Rietveld and Frank Baggen in second and third respectively.
