Le Mans & Historic RC meeting – Report

The first inaugural Le Mans and Historic RC meeting was held at the Hudy Racing Arena in Trencin, Slovakia. The one day event attracted about 50 drivers from three countries to compete in the three classes of vintage 1/8th on-road, Le Mans and Formula. In the Historic RC Veteran Tour class, vintage 1/8th cars line the SG Futura, SG Columbia, Cumis, Graupner or Hudy were raced with Jarda Beran driving an original Juraj Hudy constructed car taking the TQ with 31 laps ahead of Pekarek and Blaha, both using very nice home-made BMW CSL bodyshells on their Cumis chassis. The quickest car was a McLaren M8F on a Graupner Club 90 chassis driven by Roman Krejci but unfortunately he did not finish this heat.

John Agus wins Jakarta Regional Buggy Champs Rd2

Round two of the Jakarta Regional Buggy Championships was held at the Graha Raya track. A total of 48 drivers attended and the racers were greeted by a wet and muddy track due to overnight rain. Team Associated driver Rama Tribudiman would put his O.S. powered buggy on TQ but in the 45-minute A-main it was John Agus (Kyosho/O.S.) who came out fastest from Adrian Susanto (TLR/O.S.) who ended the race 14 second down in second. Only 1.3 seconds behind Susanto, Adrian Wicaksono (Mugen/Reds Racing) completed the podium result. Behind the three Jason Nugroho (Xray/Novarossi) and Kenji Liono (SWorkz/SPower) rounded out the top 5. TQ holder Rama unfortunately ran into problems in the race, eventually ending it in 14th position.

Sielaff wins at North German Nitro On-road Champs Rd1

The opening round of the North German Nitro On-road Championships was held at the Munster track, located between Hamburg and Hanover. In the 1/10th 200mm class Kristof Sielaff would grab the pole position for the 30-minute A-main with his Siemotu Nova-powered KM car. The main final then saw Kristof defending the top spot and he would end the main one lap ahead of Rico Kröber (Capricorn/Orcan) and Kai Bode (Serpent/Siemotu Nova). Stefan Heisterkamp (KM/Siemotu Nova) and Bernd Hasselbring (Shepherd/Orcan) would complete the top 5 result.

Griffin Hanna doubles at Spring Sting

The annual Spring Sting was held at The Badlands in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with a total of 214 entries. With the race being a one day event and so many people, the organisers choose to run only two rounds of rocket round qualifying and in Pro Electric Buggy, Serpent driver Griffin Hanna and John Michael Mcginty III would battle back and forth for the top spot. Ultimately John would grab the TQ spot after the two rounds.

Alves successful at Brazilian On-Road Champs Rd3

The third round of the local Brasilia city on-road championship took place in the city of Brasilia saw Thiago Inacio (Shepherd) taking the pole position for the main final. The A-main then saw some close racing between the top drivers Bernardo Kokemper, Thiago Elias, Rogério Massa and Thiago Inacio (all Shepherd). A few minutes into the race Thiago Inacio had to visit the pits because of technical issues which cost him a lot of time. The other three continued to fight for the lead with Rafael Alves in first position followed closely by Bernardo Kokemper and Regério Massa. This later was also the order in which the trio saw the checkered flag making it an all-Shepherd podium.

Patrick Hofer wins Swiss Nitro Buggy opener

The opening round of the Swiss Nitro Buggy Championship was held on the multi-surface track in Viggiù. A dusty dirt surface, astro turf and paving stones made for challenging conditions with Patrick Hofer (Team Associated/Reedy) and Jeremy Pittet (HB/Team Orion) battling for the TQ and the pole position for the main final. Ultimately Jeremy would hold the upper hand over Patrick who suffered from a crash with a back marker in his semifinal. The main final then saw a great fight between Jeremy, Patrick and Joachim Kallen (Xray/Picco) and after the 45-minute encounter it was Patrick who brought home the win one lap head of Jeremy with Joachim rounding out the podium in third.

Mustafa Alp doubles at TORC Rd1

Round one of the Turkish TORC series was held in Bumod Bursa in pretty cold weather conditions. About 70 drivers competed in the four classes of 1/8th nitro on-road, 1/10th nitro on-road as well as electric Modified and Stock Touring. In the 1/10th Nitro class it was Mustafa Alp who dominated qualifying by TQing all five qualifiers to grab the overall TQ easily. In the 45-minute main final Mustafa easily pulled away from the field and he was able to cruise to the win with a 5-lap lead on Halit Körpe, who was promoted into the second spot thanks to some last minute carnage caused by a rain shower in the closing stages. As the only top driver who did not change tyres mid-race, Alain Sarafyan was awarded with a third place and the final podium spot.

Adrien Bertin to run Xtreme Aerodynamics bodies

Following the signing of Robert Pietsch and Simon Kurzbuch, Xtreme Aerodynamics now announced the addition of another World Champion, Adrien Bertin to their team. A part of the development team for both the 1/10th and 1/8th bodies since the early stages, Adrien is very happy with the performance and he will continue to run them throughout the season.
