Wheatland Wyoming R/C Racing Club hosted the Winter Indoor Off-Road Championship last weekend. All-round nice guy Adam Drake conducted a clinic as part of the event and he would also set the pace and was the overall TQ in both Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truck. Drake would then also lead both finals from start to finish to sweep the event.
The opening round of the Madrid regional series saw Alberto Garcia walking away with the win in the 45 minute A-main encounter. Starting from the 1 spot Alberto would take the win one lap ahead of runner up, Oscar Navarro. Javier Pombo completed the podium result another lap down while Daniel Vega and Pablo Landaburu rounded out the top 5.

Arrowmax have announced the signing of Alex Thurston to their factory team. The reigning BRCA 200mm National and 5-times European Junior Champion will use the company’s Honeycomb tools, setup equipment and other accessories in the coming season and beyond. Alex had the following to say:

The latest driver to announce his departure from the HPI/HB on-road team, Jilles Groskamp has declared the mutual termination of his contract with the Asian company. The news probably ends a series of contract terminations and non-renewals that leaves the company without a factory electric on-road team. Jilles so far remained silent about his racing future and for now he has the following to say:
From today I […] like to announce that I will leave HB/HPI Racing. Both parties have mutual agreed to split after TITC. I would like to thank Tatsuro Watanabe for his support over the last year and I wish him and his company the best for the future. Further thanks goes to all members and old members from HB/HPI Racing. A new opportunaty is waiting for me and soon I will announce my next move in my career.
The 3rd Annual Lonestar Challenge will be held from April 22nd to 24th at the Thornhill Racing Circuit. Recent renovations turned the track into was is possibly the largest covered off-road facility in the World. The event will be held in the usual array of 1/8th off-road as well as 4×4 Short Course classes and it acts not only as the ROAR Fuel Offroad Nationals warm-up but it is also a round to the U.S. Pro Cup. Italian company Matrix Tires have announced the signing of multiple British Champion, Mark Green to their international factory team. Veteran in both the 1/8th and the 1/10th 200mm classes, Mark will compete in the BRCA National Championship, at the European and World Championships, and the Euro Nitro Series while being a key figure in supporting Matrix customers track side.

Serpent have announced the signing of 2015 BRCA 1/10th Nitro On-road Champion, Alex Thurston to their team. Alex’ 2016 campaign will include a full season of BRCA National races, all ENS events, the Worlds in Gubbio as well as selected 1/10th Electric and 1/8th Nitro races. Alex had the following to say:

Because I am young I can be mentored by the more experienced guys around me in the team in order to gain more knowledge as well. HB Europe have announced the addition of former European Champion and multiple Portuguese National Champion, Miguel Matias to their team. The former Xray driver recently left the team after being with the Slovakian manufacturer since 2014. It is understood that Miguel will attend both national and international 1/8th off-road events with HB’s range of vehicles.
