Gary Baird doubles at Irish Nationals Rd3

Gary Baird doubles at Irish Nationals Rd3

Due to weather conditions early on in the year round 3 of the Irish 1/8th Off-road Nationals had been washed out so the rerun filled the reserve date. The weather was quiet a different story this time with 20 degree Celsius and the sun blazing over the CRCCC’s very fast and flowing European style track where any small mistakes punish big time. Qualification was nip and tuck with four drivers swapping places, Gary Baird, Alan Scroggie, Barkley Abernethy and Andrew McClean. Ultimately Scroggie was to take TQ on a tie by 1 second on the final run.

Ryan Lutz sweeps Labor Day Shootout

Ryan Lutz sweeps Labor Day Shootout

The Labour Day Shootout was held at A-Main’s Silver Dollar Raceway with a good turnout of drivers from the West Coast in attendance. The track sported some sections left over from the ROAR Nationals and yet a few changes to make it feel completely different. The traction was a bit higher than at the Nationals with no real glossy slick areas. Saturday was qualifying proceedings and in E-Buggy and Nitro Truggy it was Ryan Lutz who would take the overall TQs early by taking round TQs in the first and second qualifier. Nitro Buggy was a different affair though and it would come down to the third qualifier between Curtis Door and Ryan. Curtis had a bad first lap and Ryan just got caught in traffic and made a mistake which allowed Atondo to take the round. Overall though based on the tie-breaker Ryan would TQ over Door.

Bruno Coelho takes European 1/10th 200mm title

The 2015 EFRA 1/10th 200mm Nitro On-road Championships were held at the EFMOD Model track in Turkey. The huge track made for laptimes in the 25 seconds range and the difficult layout, high traction and high temperatures made for challenging conditions for the drivers. Practice saw Teemu Leino (HB) coming out fastest some 0.04 second clear of a very consistent Bruno Coelho (Xray). Alexander Hagberg (Xray) and Dominc Greiner (Serpent) also proved to be very quick on the challenging track. In the qualifiers Dominc Greiner then took the TQ from Simon Kurzbuch (Shepherd) and Teemu Leino. Bruno Coelho, who suffered from tyre problems and Alexander Hagberg completed the top 5 result.

2015 Tire Wars race – Report

2015 Tire Wars race – Report

August Bank Holiday usually has a 3-day race of one form or another over it, and this year was no different. However the Herts club tried something different and rather than have a race dedicated to one tyre manufacture, they created an event where the three most prominent tyre brands in the UK, Beta, Proline and AKA were able to nominate one of their patterns to be eligible to race in whatever compound the competitor liked, thus not alienating drivers with allegiances to one particular brand. The track as ever was in immaculate condition and everyone was looking forward to a great weekends racing, with the hope that the weather would hold off and not come and spoil the proceedings.
