Matrix have announced that Former Dutch Champion and 2014 ENS race winner John Ermen will continue with the Italian company for 2015. A driver with more than 20 years of experience, his contribution is very important to the team both in terms of racing and product development. The newly signed ARC team driver will be racing this year’s ENS as well as the Benelux Cup, the German Nationals and the EFRA Euros.

The Navan Winter Series attracted drivers from all over Ireland and it finished up at the weekend. In Nitro Buggy Jason Noonan took 3rd, Jakub Wawrzacz 2nd and Barkley Abernethy took the overall win for an all-Agama podium lock-out while in E-Buggy Agama driver Colin Whelan grabbed the overall win.

Xray have announced that former European and multi-National Champion Jernej Vuga has extended his contract with the Slovakian company for 2015. Jernej is a nitro on-road specialist and will race Xray’s RX8 nitro car while swapping it for an X12 1/12th scale car for the Winter season. Jernej will participate at all major regional, national and international races including the European Championship, the ENS and the Alpe Adria Cup and he had the following to say:
I’m so happy to race with Xray X12 and RX8 cars in 2015 season. Having the possibility to be also a part of the 1/8 on-road test team makes me even more satisfied and motivated, since I will have a chance to contribute my feedback to make the new car even better. With industry veteran Billy Fischer Tekno RC announce the latest addition to their team. Billy is well known around the world for his speed, setup knowledge, and willingness to help others off the track. He is already up to speed and will debut his new ride at the upcoming Silver State Nitro Challenge. Billy had this to say:

Xray have announced the signing of German 1/8th Class 2 and Kyosho World Cup Champion Tom Krägefski to their nitro on-road team. The ENS main finalist will be racing Xray’s 1/8th and 1/10th nitro on-road cars at all major races in Germany and Europe. Tom says:
I am happy to join the Xray factory Team for the 2015 season. I look forward to cooperating with such a professional team and I am sure that we can work successfully together. I am particularly pleased to continue my racing career with Bertram Kessler and the whole SMI Motorsport team at my side. In the upcoming season we will be participating in the European Championships, Euro Nitro Series and the National Championships with the NT1 and RX8.

Last weekend the Silver State warm-up race was held in Las Vegas. Local track record holder Kyle Johnson TQ’d over JQ Racing’s Joseph Quagraine after two rounds of qualifying. The A-main was 25 minutes long, and after a fun race on a true offroad track, bumpy and difficult, JQ took the win with former World Champion Greg Degani (JQ Racing) finishing 2nd at one of his first outings after coming out of retirement. Track owner Chris Tocco got 3rd with his Kyosho to complete the podium.

Round 3 of the Singapore National GP Series was held with racers from Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia in attendance. In the 1/8th on-road class Nelson Lee grabbed the TQ with the only 26 laps run in the qualifiers while in the highly competitive 1/8th GT class Pason Phua came out fastest. The 1/8th class final then saw Nelson opening a 2-lap gap in the early stages but an incident exiting the pits after a fuel stop resulted in a crash and a flameout. Fortunately he was able to restart and reenter the race in 2nd, a lap down on the leader but a great race allowed him to take the lead back and to win the main in the progress. Elsewhere in the 1/8th GT class final TQ Pason Phua took the win after being in the lead most of the time.

The Sabah Borneo nitro off-road race was the first ever race held on the newly built facility and it attracted 22 drivers in total. The start of the 45 minute Nitro Buggy A-main saw Jo Wong and Jordan Chong climbing up the field until Jo ran into trouble that allowed Jordan to catch his teammate. Jordan than was able to cruise to the win with Jo Wong in 2nd place while Salman Siran, who took the TQ after the qualifiers, came in 3rd to complete the podium.
