Teemu Leino continues with HB-HPI through 2015

Team HB have announced that Teemu Leino has extended his contract to drive for the HB racing team. A mainstay of Team HB since first signing with the team, the Finn is a European Champion in the electric touring car class but his focus is now 100% nitro, and he is one of Team HBs most versatile racers, racing at the top level in 1/10th nitro touring cars, 1/8th nitro track racing and 1/8th buggies. He has been instrumental in developing the HB R10, R8 and D812 and has been a great teammate for every member of Team HBs international factory team. In 2012, Teemu was TQ at the Worlds with the R10 nitro touring car, and Team HB is confident of more success for Teemu with the R10 and other HB racing cars.

I look forward to another season with HB-HPI Racing. They give me the best cars on the market for all my racing categories. Also, the team work is really great in Team HB. I look forward to another year working with great people and having some fun at the track. I want to say thanks to Tatsuro Watanabe and Hiroyuki Kasuya for this opportunity. See you at the races next year.

Together, Teemu and the entire HB factory and R&D team will help continue to develop and improve HB racing cars for more race wins and championships, not just for themselves but for all HB racers. We are very excited to see what Teemu can accomplish with the HB R10, R8 and the World Champion D812 in 2015.

Euro Nitro Series unveils 2015 calendar

Following the ultra successful completion of its inaugural championship last month, Capricorn’s Eric Dankel and Team Shepherd’s Simon Kurzbuch crowned the respective 1:10 and 1:8 Champions, the organisers of the Euro Nitro Series are pleased to unveil its calendar for the 2015 season. As in 2014, when the ENS was contested by 149 1:8 and 118 1:10 drivers from around the world, the championship will continue to run over four races with Melzo in Italy once again hosting the season opener over the weekend of 17-19 April. From Italy the championship will move on to Austria, with Aigen the venue for Round 2 from June 12-14.

Maifield wins Pro Buggy at the Battle of the Sikest

SiK Track Designs together with AZRCR have come together for a great battle in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona. Held at the Fear Farm RC Raceway, the event organised by Levi Jackson of SiK Track Designs saw some of the best in 1/8th scale racing battle it out in the ever changing Arizona weather conditions. After a great day of qualifying, Ryan Maifield was sitting TQ in the Pro Buggy and Truggy classes. Ryan then took the first two, 20 minute A-mains to take the overall Pro Buggy Championship. Then coming out and completely showed the field why he was the champion this weekend, lapping all but 4 drivers in the final 20 minute A-main. Overall Adam Drake finished in 2nd and Ryan Lutz 3rd. Starting off the Pro Truggy Mains, Ryan had mechanical issues in the first two mains and came back to win the 3rd main over Lutz. The final podium would be Ryan Lutz taking the overall win, Reno Savoya 2nd and Tanner Stees 3rd.

Elliott Boots renews with Reds Racing

Italian company Reds Racing announce the re-signing of Elliott Boots for another two years through to 2016. The Kyosho front runner and 2012 IFMAR Worlds top qualifier has the following to say about the deal:

I have been very pleased with the fantastic support from Reds Racing in 2014, on and off track. The engines have been so good this year and with the personal track support from Mario and Marco which has been fantastic. Looking forward to 2015/16 with Reds Racing.

Haasbroek & Schmuck win South African 1/8th titles

The 4th and final round of the South African 1/8th off-road championships took place at Mandalay Raceway located in Pietermaritzburg, about one hour north of Durban. The qualifying had Miguel Haasbroek took an unexpected TQ ahead of South African legend Dean Steenmans in 2nd. Warren van der Merwe would round out the top 3.

Andy Moore renews contract with HB-HPI

Andy Moore renews contract with HB-HPI

HB announce that Andy Moore has signed with HB for another 2 years, to the end of 2016. Andy has been a core member of the on-road racing team since he first joined Team HB and showed his commitment to racing excellence when he gained the ultimate accolade, winning the IFMAR ISTC World Championship in 2006. He is one of the longest-serving members of team HB, and will race the HB Pro 5, R10 and R8 in 2015 and beyond. Here is what Andy has to say about the deal:

I’m extremely happy to be announcing my 2 year contract extension with HB-HPI Racing which will see us working together on- and off-track through until the next On-Road World championships in Beijing, China. Having been a major part of the design, test and development side of our new Pro 5 project, its going to be fun to see customers out there on track after the release and as always Ill be on hand to offer help and support to any racers who need it. Thanks again to Tatsuro Watanabe and Hiro Kasuya for their continued support. See you all at the track.

Hagberg claims first World title in Bangkok

Hagberg claims first World title in Bangkok

Their leading onroad driver since turning pro with the Slovakian manufacturer three years ago, Alexander Hagberg finally rewarded Team Xray by taking his first World title at the 200mm World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, this evening.  Starting from third on the grid, the Swede would drive an impressive 1-hour race to see off strong challenges from both Jilles Groskamp and Top Qualifier Dominic Greiner to win Xray’s second 200mm World title.  Starting from 10th on the grid, it was Serpent’s Yuya Sahashi who would finish second 1-lap down with Greiner completing the podium at the Huge RC Circuit.

Champion Vejrak to defend title from P4

After a below expectations qualifying, reigning World Champion Meen Vejrak will defend his 200mm title from 4th on the grid after the 1/4 Final qualifier won his Semi Final to bump up to the 1-hour Main at Huge RC Circuit in Bangkok, Thailand.  Starting from 9th on the grid, the KM Racing driver quickly moved his way to the front making a strong pass on fellow 2012 podium finisher Francesco Tironi at the 13-minute mark coming of the sweeper at the end of the straight. Behind, Mugen driver JJ Wang would finish 7.7 seconds in 2nd after a thrilling last minute battle with Tironi, the pair originally battling for the last direct bump up position until Peter Jovanovic had to make a splash & dash on the penultimate lap having been running second.  Although the Australian had to wait to see the race times of the second Semi, his pace, as was that of Yuya Sahashi who finished 5th, was good enough to give him one of the 3-fastest race time bump ups.
