Tyler Jones doubles at End of Summer Shootout

The End of Summer Shootout cash race hosted by I69 Raceway in Noblesville, IN was held this past Labor Day weekend. Even with the heavy threat of rain there was some tough competition on hand ready to race. Only a light shower hit during the event that the track soaked right up. In the 1/8th E-Buggy class TLR/JConcepts’ Tyler Jones would take the lead on the second lap and checked out for the win in the ten minute main. Next came the Nitro Pro Buggy main and Tyler’s TLR buggy would grab the lead on the first lap of the twenty minute main and would check out again for the win.

Carlos Duraes wins in Portugal

Carlos Duraes wins in Portugal

Serpent driver Carlos Duraes took the win at a Portuguese regional race held last weekend at the Modelis track in Ortigosa. Carlos won the 35 minute final with his RB-powered ride one lap ahead of Ricardo Monteiro (TLR/RB), while Goncalo Melo (TLR/RB) completed the top 3 result another 3 laps down. Pedro Rodrigues and Miguel Matias ended the race in 4th and 5th position respectively.

Codazzi & Bassi win at AS Hobby Racing GP

Codazzi & Bassi win at AS Hobby Racing GP

The AS Hobby Racing Grand Prix took place in Brescia this past weekend. In the 1/8th Expert class it was Claudio Codazzi (Xray/Max Power) who scored not only the fastest lap times but he also won the race ahead of Massimo Fantini (Serpent/Max Power) and Davide Masari (Mugen/Reds). In the second 1/8th class Mattia Bassi (Serpent/Max Power Chef Engines) came out successful in front of Germano Menghini (Serpent/Reds) and Marco Bianchi (Mugen/Max Power Chief Engines).

2014 Arena Outdoor race – Report

2014 Arena Outdoor race – Report

The DirtRaceRC track in Diego Fuser, Italy hosted the 2014 Arena Outdoor race. Considered to be one of the best outdoor tracks in Italy, the event attracted some of the best Italian drivers to compete in a total of four nitro and electric classes. The Nitro Buggy F1 class saw Riccardo Berton taking the win in the 45 minute final one lap ahead of Ale Stocco and Daniele Chicca, who finished another lap down. Fabricio Teghesi and Davide Ongaro completed the top 5 result in the fastest buggy class.

Burch & Strack win at Great Lake Challenge

The 2014 Great Lake Challenge in Toledo, Ohio had a nice turnout of 130 entries between four classes. The 1/8th final was very exciting for the first half of the race. Paulo Morganti was leading with Ralph Burch in second only one second behind. Ralph came in for his tire change around the 23 minute mark and the stop went fairly smooth. A few laps later Paolo came in for his tire stop and would never make it back on the track. After Paolo went out, Ralph was never challenged again and was able to just cruise around and take the 1/8th final.

Daniel Thiele takes German 1/10th 200mm nitro title

The 2014 German championships in the 1/10th 200mm nitro class were held last weekend at the Türkheim track in Southern Germany. Saturday saw dry qualifying sessions with Dominic Greiner taking TQ in front of reigning European champion Robert Pietsch and Dionys Stadler. The wet finals on Sunday meant drivers would have to carefully prep their cars in order to make the most out of the tricky conditions. At the end it was Serpent’s Daniel Thiele who took the win and the 2014 title in front of the Shepherd duo of Patrick Schäfer and Dirk Wischnewski.

Martin Bayer wins German 1/8 nitro buggy nationals

The 2nd round of this year’s German 1/8 nitro buggy national championships took place at the RC Modellbaufreude club in Freising near the Munich airport. After winning the opening round one week ago Martin Bayer again was the man to beat this past weekend. The Xray driver won three out of the five qualifiers to take the overall TQ for the finals. Team Durango’s Jörn Neumann came in second while Kyosho driver Carsten Keller completed the top 3 result.
