Tasos Paparegas wins Greek 1/8 Buggy nationals Rd2

The 2nd round of the Greek 1/8 Buggy nationals saw Tasos Pagaregas scoring an easy win after taking TQ in the qualifiers. John Papanikolaou qualified in 2nd place while Makropoulos completed the qualifying top 3. In the final Tasos lead from wire to wire while his brother John was in a nice battle with John Papanikolaou, with the better end for Paparegas who wrestled down Papanikolaou to take the runner up spot.

Joelson wins at SA on-road gas championship Rd2

The 2nd Round of the South African National Championship was held at the TVR Raceway near Johannesburg. Drivers from all over the country attended the event that was run on a track with a fast and flowing layout with medium traction that saw many drivers struggling to make 5 minutes in the qualifiers. Current SA champ Wayne Joelson was the only driver to complete 19 laps taking the TQ position. Sundays finals had much cooler weather, so the traction was much better, but engine tuning became even more critical. Wayne took the win after 45 Minutes followed by young upcoming driver Ayrton Vermaak and Willie Noordman in 3rd.

Tanner Stees joins Team HB/HPI Racing for 2014

Team HB/HPI Racing welcome 16 year old Tanner Stees from Chandler, Arizona to their family. Tanner has been racing 1/8th scale nitro off-road for nearly 10 years and has continually improved his performances at the National level. Additionally Tanner also competes in the 1/8th scale E-Buggy, Modified Electric 4WD and 2WD 1/10th scale Buggy classes. For the 2014 season Tanner will be using HB/HPI Racing’s line of competition off-road kits and he is looking forward to a great 2014 race season and plans to improve upon his excellent results from 2013.

The Italian Job Race – Announcement

The 2014 Italian Job Race will be held from the 12th to 14th of September at the IBR Padova indoor track. The race is run on a completely redesigned track that will be build just for this race to make for equal chances for all competitors. With only one week to go before the IFMAR Worlds in Italy the event may develop to something of an unofficial worlds warm-up and therefore many top drivers are expected to make their entry. The race will offer Pro and Sport buggy classes with the latter being run in control Sweep tyres and also offering the chance to grab a 1-year full sponsoring from Team Orion and Sweep. David Ronnefalk wins 2014 Euro warm-up race

Last weekend the MSC Sand/Main club in Germany hold the warm-up race for this year’s EFRA 1/8th Buggy European Championships. In qualifying Kyosho’s David Ronnefalk, the defending Euro Champ, took TQ with his Team Orion powered MP9 from Darren Bloomfield (Agama/Bullitt) and Elliott Boots (Kyosho/Reds). The pole position for the 45 minute final went to Xray’s Renaud Savoya who suffered another retirement in the closing stages of the final following similar issues in other major races. This made way for David Ronnefalk who came in 1st followed by Robert Battle (Mugen/Novarossi), who was able to wrestle down Darren Bloomfield. Martin Bayer (Xray/LRP) and Elliott Boots completed the top 5 result.

Bradley Baird wins Irish 1/8th off-road season opener

Round 1 of the 2014 RCCAOI championship, run at BADMCC, had some challenging weather conditions to offer. The decision was made to go ahead, and most of the standing water was removed from the track. Defending champion Bradley Baird (JQ Products) took the top spot in round one, with John Matthews (JQ Products) taking the honours in the electric class. Bradley drove his Orion powered JQ to win each of the following 4 rounds, the only driver to achieve 11 laps, and take the overall TQ from Gary Baird’s Agama in second and Aaron Vance’s Team Durango in third.

Sebastian Recio wins Argentinian Touring Champs Rd1

The 1st round of the Argentinian Touring Championships was held last weekend at the Hernan Matticoli track. The pole position for the 45 minute final went to Juan Pablo Golobic (Capricorn/Novarossi) but at the end it was Sebastian Recio (Capricorn/Novarossi) who took the win in front of Juan Pablo with Adrian Castro completing the all-Capricorn and all-Novarossi podium in 3rd position.

Nitro-West-Masters season opener – Report

The prestigious Oberhausen track in Germany saw the season opener of the Nitro-West-Masters last weekend. With a record breaking entry of 69 drivers, exciting and fair racing, an up-to-the-minute time schedule, a helpful cooperation and friendly atmosphere in the paddock the first race of the 2014 season was a great success. Finally, Tobias Hepp (Xray), René Puepke (Shepherd), Waldemar Liedke (Mugen) and Hans-Werner Dietz (Xray) took the raging applause for their victories in the four classes.
