Team Shepherd's Mack & Wischnewski take Q2 at ENS

Team Shepherd concluded Day 1 of qualifying at the Euro Nitro Series at Aigen, Austria, with a double as their drivers Oliver Mack and Dirk Wischnewski TQ’d Q2 of their respective classes.  Having just missed out in Q1 to Serpent’s Michael Salven, Mack would take the second qualifier of the rain effected event in a more convincing manner finishing 3.4 seconds faster than Xray’s John Ermen.  Behind the German it was very close with Ermen, Salven and BMT’s Daniele Ielasi separated by just 3/10ths.  In 1:10 Wischnewski topped the time sheets on a much drier track by .177 from Q1 pace setter and chassis team-mate Francesco Tironi with Serpent’s Dominic Greiner completing the Top 3.

Rain forces cancellation of ENS Day 1

Rain forces cancellation of ENS Day 1

The organisers of the Euro Nitro Series have opted to cancel Day 1 of the second round of the championship in Aigen, Austria, due to rain. A dry but cold track greeted drivers this morning but just after the 1:8 drivers took to the track for the first of their rounds of open practice, the 1:10 racers having got to complete their run, the first shower of the day arrived. Waiting to let the rain pass the weather was to further deteriorate with the Race Director making the call at lunch time to cancel today’s programme and give racers the time to prepare wet cars for tomorrow. With most of the racers having enjoyed plenty of dry running yesterday, Day 2 will start irrespective of it being a wet or dry track with the first of four rounds of qualifying. The track remains open today for an drivers wishing to get in some wet practice but the majority of racers are retiring to their hotels.

Van Iperen & Arents win at wet Dutch nationals Rd2

Van Iperen & Arents win at wet Dutch nationals Rd2

Last weekend the Dutch 1/8th on-road nationals had their 2nd round run at the REAL80 track in Groningen. Despite the wet weather all weekend 39 drivers attended. After 3 rain soaked qualification rounds it was John Lenaers and John Ermen who took the pole of the NK class semi finals. After the semi finals there was an interesting drivers list for the main final, as both John’s were not able to reach the final. The main itself then did look more like a battlefield. Heavy showers made for huge puddles on the track which were almost impossible to drive through but the battle for the podium went on despite many stalling engines. Finally it was Jeroen van Iperen who took the win followed by Tjibbe Keller and Ad Vissenberg.

Kiss-Orban wins at Hungarian nitro on-road nats Rd1

Kiss-Orban wins at Hungarian nitro on-road nats Rd1

The Hungarian nitro on-road national series kicked off last weekend at the Hungaroring. The weather was a little bit tricky and the qualification heats where run under rainy condition, but fortunately the 30 minute final would be run under dry conditions. The TQ went to Zsolt Bajusz (Capricorn/Max), but he soon lost the first place due to a small mistake. This allowed Laszlo Kiss-Orban (Capricorn/Reds) to pass Zsolt and from that moment on he never looked back to take the win from Zsolt Bajusz and Matyas Mohl (Serpent/Picco).
