Tasos Paparegas wins Greek National Cup

The Greek National Cup took place in Athens with drivers from all over Greek attending. Tasos Paparegas took the TQ spot after qualifying with Tsigos and Zagorisos in tow. The final was run in difficult conditions on a very bumpy track and once again it was Tasos who excelled with Tsigos being the only driver who was able to go Tasos’ pace. At the end Tasos Paparegas took the win from Tsigos and John Paparegas. Makropoulos and Papanikolaou completed the top 5 result.

Matias wins Portuguese off-road championship opener

The first round of this year’s Portuguese 1/8th off-road championship took place at the CRF Freixedas track, the venue of an EFRA Grand Prix in August. After qualifying 2nd the final was dominated by Xray’s Miguel Matias who came in two laps in front of Goncalo Melo (TLR) and Ricardo Monteiro (TLR). Pedro Figueiredo and Nuno Rebelo completed the top 5 result.

Tödtmann & Georgiades in in Greece

The first round of the Greek Nitro Series and Greek Touring Series started at the popular Fanatix track. The 200mm nitro class had German Xray driver Thilo Alexander Tödtmann taking the TQ position after the three 7 minute qualifiers. For the 45 minute final Thilo decided to use his Greek friend Doucakis as his mechanic and went for 4:30 minute pitstops while his main competitor Sotiropoulos J. was able to do 5:10 minute stints. But Thilo was able to compensate the larger amount of stops with a faster pace allowing him to take the win in front of 6-times champion John Sotiropoulos while Spiros Sotiropoulos completed the podium in 3rd position.

Drake wins at 2014 Hitec Trophy Chase Rd4

The 4th round of the 2014 Hitec Trophy Chase took place this past weekend in Chula Vista, CA. at the Heritage R/C Park with a total of 80 racers signed up for the event. Rocket round qualifying was used to set the grid for the 30 minute expert nitro mains. Adam Drake TQ’ed nitro Truck and Sean Gaffney TQ’ed nitro Buggy. In the Truck final Team Losi Racing’s Adam Drake led from start to finish and TLR teammate Brian Sullivan finished second. In the Buggy final Sean Gaffney lead the first couple of laps with Drake on his bumper. Drake took the lead after a mistake from Gaffney and Drake started to pull away lap after lap and eventually won the 30 minute final by nearly a lap.

Alex Zanchettin wins at Italian Buggy champs Rd1

The national Italian Nitro Buggy championship kicked off last weekend at the Naxos World track. TLR’s Alex Zanchettin took the TQ and started off strong into the final. Alessandro Stocco, Davide Ongaro and Riccardo Berton tried to follow while Davide Tortorici fall back to the end of the field following some some first lap contacts. 20 minutes into the race Alex was still in the lead while Berton and Ongaro battled for second place. Tortorici and Stocco where in a fight for the fourth place while on top the positions seemed cemented with Alex, Riccardo and Davide being the top 3. With 10 minutes to go Riccardo Rabitti and Fabrizio Teghesi battled for forth but up front Alex Zanchettin (TLR) took a never endangered win in front of Riccardo Berton (Kyosho) and Davide Ongaro (Mugen). Riccardo Rabitti (Radiosistemi) and Fabrizio Teghesi (Kyosho) finished 4th  and 5th respectively.

Jerome Aigoin wins at French 1/8th buggy nats Rd1

The French 1/8th nitro buggy nationals opening race was held at the MRCT Le Teich track near Bordeaux. The event saw Kyosho’s Jerome Aigoin taking the win from his brother Yannick Aigoin (Team Associated) while Agama’s Jerome Sartel finish 3rd to round out the podium. Jean-Pierrick Sartel and Edouard Hugon completed the top 5 result. It was a bad weekend for Xray’s Renaud Savoya who was DQ’d from the semi for his car failing tech inspection, it was not able to roll backwards through the measuring box.

Inaki Pahisa wins Spanish 200mm on-road nats Rd1

The Automodelismo Radio Control Alcobendas in Madrid held the first round of the Spanish 200mm nationals this weekend. The qualifiers saw Eduardo Fdez-Escandon Riera taking TQ from Inaki Pahisa and Fabio Barbosa Araujo. In the 30 minute final Inaki (Mugen) came in frost some 9/10th of a second from Victor Pelaez (Serpent) and Johnny Pastor (Mugen) who was a lap down. TQ Eduardo Fdez-Escandon Riera finished fourth, Juan Hidalgo completed the top 5 result.

Martin Lissau joins Shepherd for 2014

Martin Lissau joins Shepherd for 2014

Shepherd Micro Racing announce the re-signing of the former 1/5th Scale World Champion and 2008 1/10th World Championship finalist Martin Lissau. After a break from 1/10th scale racing he will attend the national championship in Denmark, selected ENS events as well as the the European Championship in Valencia using Shepherd’s Velox V10 Pro chassis. Martin has the following to say about the deal:

I’m very happy to be back in the great Shepherd Team and looking forward to an interesting and funny year. The development of the V10 to the Pro version was such a big step forward that I’m really optimistic for the upcoming races.
