Ronnefalk first European winner at DNC

Team Kyosho ace David Ronnefalk became the first European winner at the world famous Dirt Nitro Challenge as he took his Orion powered MP9 to a convincing win in the eBuggy A-Main.  Attracting its most competitive field yet since its introduction, the Swedish ace moved to the front on lap 3 when he blasted passed the Mugen of Top Qualifier Drew Moller on the back straight.  Quickly pulling clear at the front of the 15-car field, the 17-year old would take the win by over 10 seconds from fellow teenager Moller who saw off a race long challenge from the TLR of reigning US National Champion Dakotah Phend.

Phend wraps up overall TQ in Q2

Dakotah Phend has wrapped up early the overall Buggy TQ honours for the 15th Annual Dirt Nitro Challenge in Phoenix, Arizona, as he again stamped his authority on qualifying at the Fear Farm. Having best mastered the slippery conditions of Q1, the Team Losi Racing ace would master the totally different track drivers faced in Q2 to take the round by over 4-seconds from the Mugens of Carson Wernimont and Taylor Peterson. Having suffered a DNF in Q1, defending champion Ryan Maifield claimed a fifth for the round, the Associated driver much happier with his package the second time of asking.

Phend TQ’s first round of Buggy at DNC

Phend TQ’s first round of Buggy at DNC

Team Losi Racing’s Dakotah Phend best mastered slick conditions at the Dirt Nitro Challenge to TQ the opening round of Buggy qualifying which saw drivers struggle with a track that has become highly polished. Phend topped the times by 3 seconds from Serpent’s Mike Truhe, the pair the only two drivers to complete 10-lap runs over the 7-minutes. For defending champion Ryan Maifield, who is running in the third fastest heat it was a terrible start to the event with him failing to finish the round after suffering an engine flame out. Last year’s Top Qualifier Jared Tebo also had a difficult opening heat, the Kyosho driver struggling with ice like conditions and only able to post the 19th fastest time.
