After much speculation about a possible new engine deal for Ryan Maifield it is now confirmed that the Team Associated frontrunner will join Italian company Novarossi to run their line of buggy and truggy engines. After being LRP-powered for a good amount of time, Ryan is now looking forward to head into his new venture that will start at this year’s Dirt Nitro Challenge in February.

Italian engine manufacturer Novarossi announce the latest addition to their factory team in the form of Teemu Leino. The quick Finn, who took TQ at the 2012 1/10th 200mm IFMAR World Championships in Thailand, will use the company’s .12 on-road and .21 off-road engines in his rides.

Mugen Seiki Europe announce the Mugen Seiki Challenge that will be held in Lyon, France on the weekend of the 22nd of June. Hosted by the CAMSE club in Saint Exupéry, close to the Lyon airport, the race will be run in electric and nitro buggy and truggy classes and sees only one rule: “Drive your Mugen”. Bittydesign have announced the 2014 running of their Euro Contest, an event born in 2009 with a successful race format with the focus on fun. The Contest is different event, the atmosphere during the race is magic, a big party with music and hot girls. The Barco-Off racetrack continues to host the event, completely re-built in 2012 the layout of the circuit presents a huge amount of dirt that make the driving experience unique and never seen before in Italy in a permanent outdoor facility, a real American style available for drivers at all levels and only 1 hour from Bologna airport. The event will run from the 27th to the 29th of June 2014 and is limited to 192 drivers. A 3 day format, Friday sees free practice, Saturday qualification with Sunday used for the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) followed by Superpole and finals. Full details can be found here.
Lali Warehouse, being the one and only indoor off-road track in Hong Kong, held their first nitro buggy point race on the 26th of Jan for the year 2014 and new TLR signing Lin Le Lua sent us this report. ‘A month prior to the event, Lali had change the lay out of the track and it prove to be challenging and fun at the same time. I have heard great things about the new layout and I cannot wait to join this race as a driver for TLR. Although very close by from where I live in China, it still took us around 3 hours to get to the track, but when we first arrive and have our eyes on the track, everything’s worth it! We are welcome by a bunch of jumps and elevation change means the lay out are really exciting and not to mention a very warm welcome from the locals, we are so eager to lay down some laps before the race!

FX have announced that the young talented French driver Lorenzo Crolla joins the FX team. Lorenzo choose the FX engine to empower his car in the 2014 season which will include the Worlds, Euros and French Nationals. Lorenzo had this to say:
I got the chance to test and run some of the very first FX engines and after several races I was fully confident that FX will be my next engine I want to run. I have been running the engine for several months already without any single flame out or any technical failures and the performance is simply amazing. I was very happy when FX approached me to be a factory team driver and I want to thank for this opportunity. I am excited for the 2014 season and at the same time very confident in the engine and I will do all my best.

Shepherd Micro Racing announce that Worlds finalist and multiple European and German champion Dirk Wischnweski joins their factory racing team for 2014. Living close to the Shepherd company he will be heavily involved in the development of the Velox V10 Pro sharing his huge knowledge with the team. In the upcoming season Dirk will attend the ENS series, the EC in Valencia and the Worlds in Bangkok as well as some regional races giving track side assistance to fellow Shepherd racers. Dirk had the following to say:
First of all I would like to thank Xray for their support over the last few years but now it’s time for a new challenge. I’m really happy to work together with Patrick and the rest of the Shepherd crew for the future. It was not so easy for me to make a decision for the 2014 season but when I think about the small distance to the company and the great improvements Shepherd made on the Velox V10 last year I’m really optimistic and looking forward to attending the upcoming races.

Flodwood RC in Flodwood, Mississippi played host for the 4th Annual January Jam. Bubba Barham and the entire FRC crew always does a fantastic job on race promotion and track prep to make FRC one of the most frequented tracks for myself along with the south’s fastest racers. This year they had roughly 240 entries spread out in the most popular classes in RC. In the Pro Nitro Truggy class Team Associated/JConcepts driver Blake Boggs battled it out with FRC’s local Chandler Patrick in the qualifiers. After a TQ and two respective top 3 finishes Blake had to settle for a 2nd place in the grid. In Buggy qualifying Arkansas native Drew Spurgeon, FRC locals Greg Gatewood and JC Team mate Kevin McCoy took the first three places.
