Maifield & Evans preparing to ‘Clash’ in Mississippi

The main honours at the sixth running of the annual JConcepts Clash is set to be a ‘clash’ between Associated’s Ryan Maifield and Team Losi Racing’s Dustin Evans with the duo running head to head in 1:8 Nitro Buggy, 2WD Electric Buggy and 2WD Short Course at the unique and famous US off road event which caters for both 1:8 nitro and 1:10 electric classes. With all five previous Clash events having been held in Florida and outdoors, for 2012 the event has undergone two key changes. The first of these was moving it away from the East Coast where JConcepts is based over to the state of Mississippi with the second and more significant change being to run indoors at the Flowood Indoor RC Park where they have created an impressive large track for the unique event.

Victor Pelaez Olivares wins Spanish GP nats Rd4

The fourth and final round of the Spanish nitro on-road nationals took place in Parla. The championship would be decided between Jonnhy Pastor and Victor Pelaez Olivares. Both drivers had to skip Friday’s practice meaning they only had two hours of practice on Saturday morning. Victor Pelaez quickly proofed to be the fastest driver on the track but come the qualifiers both Victor and Jonnhy struggled and at the end it was Iñaki Pahissa who took TQ followed by Victor. Going into the finals it was clear that all drivers needed a good tyre management to make the 30 minutes final without tyre changes. As the A final started Iñaki and Victor were able to hold their positions and after dropping down to fourth place Victor shifted into second gear and took the lead after a couple of fast laps. He was able to control the pace in order to save tyres and while other drivers started to struggle with the black gold Victor (Serpent) cruised to victory with Iñaki Pahissa (Xray) in second and Rodri Pahissa Lopez (Serpent) in third position.

Delaunay wins Rd5 as Christiany takes French title

The 5th and final round of the French 1/8th Classique championship took place on the brand new Ingrande track last weekend. There was very good weather but the track conditions were not very good and so it was quite difficult to find the right set-up. Local driver Romain Delaunay found the perfect setup and put his Motonica on pole position ahead of Serge Christiany in 2nd and Julen Mathieu in 3rd. The beginning of the 45 minute final was difficult for Romain Delaunay and ended up at the back of the field but he fought back and took over the lead at the half way point in the race. Both Serge and Romain changed rear tires during this final and that is the order it would finish as Delaunay took the win 2 laps in front of Christiany in 2nd while Jean-François Rouanet was 3rd. This result gave Serge Christiany the French National title.
